  2. You have many many options. You don't mention which model Mac Mini you have? Anyway There are many improvements you can make to a mac mini, e.g.: Uptone power mod, using a ssd, booting from a ram disk, etc. Software: I use Audirvana and Foobar (there are many others) Streaming: I prefer Tidal (don't have access to Qobuz). For general listening I use Spotify. (My dac only has spdif input and I did find the more I spent on usb/spdif converters the better it was.) I have no idea re Topping dac's. Many members here reckon it is very good value. I am not an expert, but IME / IMO you need to get a dac that has a RRP of more than $1,000 (Gieseler products are an exception - very good value for money.) Once you have the computer and dac sorted out you can start worrying about cables and other add-ons, as the law of diminishing returns kick in. Unfortunately there are not really right and wrong answers, it is more like trial and error. I would suggest listening to dacs before you buy if you could. Alternatively buy a product that has good reviews in the used market. That way if you don't like it you can sell it at not much of a loss.

  9. I was born in 65 - looks like you are a bit older than me . Guess the older we get the wiser we get. I attended a HiFi show in Melbourne in 2010, which resulted in me spending lots of money on my current system. Anyway, based on your posts I am quite excited to have you here as it looks like you know your stuff! Thanks for joining and looking forward to your contributions. (Forewarned: there is a lot of banter here - ha ha, don't take it seriously)
  10. @Salisbury 79 Good evening - I was thinking for a moment that you may be from Adelaide (where I lived) as there is a suburb called Salisbury. Anyway Welcome to the forum! I have to confess that I have never heard Naim or Spendor - my bad. Hope you enjoy your journey here. Please stay and contribute - we do need need people that have been in the industry to give there views.
  11. Welcome David I am not in Adelaide, but I did live there for 6 years and I have family and friends there,. There are a whole range of shops /suppliers/manufacturers in Adelaide and surrounds - you would be blown away once you meet them! Truth be told , the best HiFi system I have ever listened to was in Adelaide -go figure! Anyway, welcome, and let us know what we can do to make your journey even better!
  12. @DMax I am a huge fan of XLO. ( Should be re my investment in their cables :). ) Unfortunately I have found that in Australia the brand is not that appreciated. If you have no luck here try Audiogon. Also try Audiomart as well as eBay. GLWTS
  13. Excellent post. I agree. Something like this is an excellent investment. I use this to label my cables at both ends. Makes things a lot easier. 14. Evening @bretwils Looks like you are quire new to the forum - Welcome. AFAIK the Vincent phono stages are good value. I cannot send you a PM. Let me know via PM how your sale goes, I may have someone who may be interested.
  15. Losing things in a burglary sucks. It is also a significant invasion of privacy, which cause other issues that have to be dealt with. Maybe, just maybe, there may be a tiny silver lining to this cloud, as in system changes I hope that the future possibilities may make your loss a little bit more palatable. All the best.
  16. @rensheng - you are a brand new member, WELCOME. Please don't take all replies to a post here seriously - members here love to take the p**s out of others or otherwise said make jokes/comments that have no value to the topic at hand. Most of us here participate in the banter and humor with no harm intended. @JukKluk2 has provided informative information. I, as well as many members here, have ample experience with the myriad of options available. As members have said - your questions possibly have many answers. I would suggest that you provide more info re the rest of your system and your budget so that we can provide more specific advice.
