  2. Go for the Devialet, better tech used and they SAM a number of speakers with laser, interesting tech.
  3. It’s all over the news that he’s announce a reduction in the workforce world wide…. Is this the same link or different, I saw this on FB:
  4. $130k, that would be 3 RAV4….. Usually with anything just released early failures regardless of what it is it’s really a learning curve, they will then modify or designed it differently. The early motors had bearing issues, so you need to stripped the entire assembly down to get to that bearing. They were replacing the batteries free of charge, now any evidence of waterlogged you have to pay for the battery. Not so quick, the M3 release was a PR disaster, everyone saw the quality wasn’t up to scratch. Huge issues from front to rear! Even suspensions had common issues and a mod was implemented. Panels that didn’t lined up to the point where doors don’t open/shut and the service Center have had multiple attempts and still could get it right. Then there are issues with very basic things like brake lamp housings where they were condensation in the inside and ended up failing that suggest bad quality glue getting used as this is where the leak was as you submerge the assembly in water! In fact the QC that was done here in a Melbourne listed pages and pages of defects of every M3 that landed in Melb were told to ignore and send it out as is by the Tesla rep! The Current M3 rolling off the production line in Shanghai are a different beast, the quality is a massive improvements. The MY as Musk saids it’s not a serviceable item, his sell is that they built a car to last! We’ll see as it’s still in the early stages.
  5. At the time when you purchases you MX I guess it would be around the $80-110k mark! At that time I could have bought a RAV4 at $40k, I could have bought 2 for the price of 1 Model X.. The 1st Teslas as predicted wasn’t that reliable either, there’s many issues and many promise that Musk sold wasn’t the case that involve heaps of warranty claims. When you have that many issues it defeat the purpose of being environmentally friendly and offsets to any marketing spiel.
  6. I was in China last year and surprised how it’s all changed. They just don’t make small cheap EVs, Some of those pics I placed here on this thread 12mths ago shows they just about covered every segment of the market. Walk in a Hauwei Store not only do they sell phones, tablets and smart watches, they are marketing there own brand of EV in the same store! Some of those Chinese brands like Geely etc have extremely high performance EV in sports and SUV variant and they are in equivalent of $70K AU and goes north from there, funny thing is that no one there considers Tesla as market leader in this EV market and you can see why, these things produced for the Chinese are well sort after, there quality and materials used and technology really are a benchmark on on its own, who would by a car that saids panel gap of 5-10mm is acceptable?
  7. Right at this moment in time, I still think Hybrids are a stop gap to going full EV. As far as I’m concerned the battery tech is dictated by chemistry, efficiency is effected by temperature and weight. That hybrid Corolla I drove in Cairns just proved that a small vehicle with a small tank can pull 838km out of 35lts. Another is a Havel HE6 that pulls 1000km range, big enough for a family of 4 and have everything at the back for a decent trip. No need to tether to charge! Go anywhere you want! Unless it’s to get around and do shopping, small EV like the mini Morris just doesn’t tick the box for me, considering the weight and capacity and it’s too small to do anything with it. A vehicle has to be practical to do some of the things that comes out of the blue, a mini EV. A Polstar is just an ordinary car, why would anyone buy that? Hence the reason you see the sales in SUV and Utes skyrocket and still strong.
  8. And then You have what’s called the Cyber Semi……require a 1MW/H infrastructure on V4 charging………this is where the EV bandwagon is going. The selling feature here is cost savings compared to diesel on there marketing nothing to do with weight or have any environmental considerations …. As pointed out in a previous post, every charge infrastructure has to be considered…..How many houses can be supported with 1MW/H. This is the scale we are looking at in which the grid has to support.

  16. you are talking about a $90K plus vehicle........ this is why it sells in low numbers and only the fortunate can make those choices. An Isuzu Ute is around $65K. A nissan Navara less. A RAV4 Hybrid starts at $50K-60K. You need to do a lot of driving on a RAV4 to even get to the cost of a Polster 4 with all its glory. Hence the reason noone is buying the Ford EV truck at over $100K US and Ford is now shutting there door and forcing redundancies. Which companies are going to issue a vehicle thats 30-40% more in the initial outlay? Definitely not the one i work for! Im asked to justify and enter tea/lunch breaks on there system, what organisation is going to be OK in there controlling micro management is going to justify a 20min charge break? definitely not the one i work for! Not yet, just remember we are nowhere near China's EV uptake, far from it! they have better choices and charging is everywhere, something you dont see here. You see the posters on Tesla AU FB page mocking how available charging infrastructure is, id bet that most are getting up early to the crack of dawn to get there where noone is around or have planned it to take the pic. I drive passed a Mobile servo on Western Hwy headed home and saw the queue for bousers during the lunch break, now imagine that was all EVs waiting to top up!
  17. not allowed in wet areas such as bathrooms, laundry and some parts of kitchen areas. Which is unfortunate if you have the original phone line routed to the kitchen bench away from any wet areas like how we built the house. Not sure about the laundry either as most of the wet areas there will be the washing machine that’s connected to the inlet and waste pipes. Understand it’s not allowed in bathrooms.
  18. The casing and pipe work was already there! I paid to have that put in when I build the house, The orange rope has just been implemented. I sigh of relief on my behalf so there is no need to excavate as it has to go through 5-6M of concrete on a a horse shoe drive way! It looks like they will be able to pull the fibre through. Then the task is to get it to the other corner of the house to where the entry point is which is in the kitchen. If they want it to be easy there is a option to put that right through the wall into the lounge. But I want it in the kitchen as this will give wifi coverage evenly throughout the house.
  19. choose your own poison, there’s a difference between solid engineering to reduced distortion and increase S/N ratio and manipulating inherent distortion to suit the ear, I’ve come to the conclusion that solid engineering is the way to go because I don’t trust ears.
  20. The Purifi modules are Big Bang for buck. If I was considering now, March Audio would be on the top of my list.
  21. I would consider class D, especially the Hypex or the Purifi modules that March Audio uses. I’ve compared the Hypex to the Magtech. Unless you have severe difficult loads to drive: under 2 ohms, these class D modules represent Big Bang for buck, no need to go to mega dollars.
  22. At the HiFi show last year and the rep from Dan D’Agostino laid it out that they will not be going full class A as there is no benefit apart from heat production, they are having a rethink on most of there future products and outlined the maths involved as the question in the audience was asked why can’t we have mega watt class A. The reality is that all you need to do is bias it to reduced distortion at the zero cross from -0.7 to 0.7VDC if you are using BJT, mosfets are a whole different ball game. Biasing it further reaps no benefit unless you want heat and life reduction on parts.
  23. considering they are $5k for stereo, it’s just under 50% of the Magtech. If you have a Magtech, don’t let it go! If you’re in Syd go and check it out. https://www.mcleans.info/products/sanders-sound-magtech-stereo-amplifier
