  1. FWIW I've had a Denon TU1500RD, and TU255 and both were excellent. A long time ago I had a TU600 which IMHO had the best sound quality of the three but a weak RF front end and needed a good strong signal work at its best. http://www.hifi-classic.net/review/denon-tu-600-176.html More Denon tuner reviews here: https://fmtunerinfo.com/reviewsD-G.html Denon_TU255.pdf Denon-TU-1500RD-brochure.pdf
  2. Thanks @Powerglide ... I know, but they’re about to sell on eBay. I’ll be in touch if they don’t. I didn’t want to DIY as I didn’t want to risk mucking them up. The foam is otherwise in good shape. Responses have been very interesting ... Pacific HiFi Initially wanted $99 just to look at them, despite my photos, then “I have showed the images to the technician and advised that the surround needs reroll and that is $200 each woofer.” Speaker Hospital “To replace 8” woofer surrounds we charge $92.70 per 8” speaker parts and labour included, so for two $185.40. Also, has the crossover ever been serviced before? We usually charge $49.50 per passive speaker box to check all components including the tweeter to make sure everything else is okay, given the age of some speakers, anything can go wrong.“ Pacific
  3. Over the years I gathered a fair bit of info on my now long gone Rega gear - Planet II, Radio R, Elex, Mira II - and on lots of other models and variants as well. I was a bit - well, alarmingly - obsessed with the rough industrial clamshell aesthetic! Info includes reviews, circuit diagrams, circuit board layouts, Rega service notes, interior and exterior photos, user manuals, and some notes and info from forums. Not a huge amount ~ but if anyone similarly obsessed and/or suffering and can make use of it, PM me and I'll send you it all in a zip (130MB). Here's a very nice Red Planet (found here https://www.flickr.com/photos/ippinkan/) - sadly Rega didn't go further with colour. Sadly I didn't think of repainting mine!
  4. Further information: I have 8 new Littelfuse 251001 1A very fast acting pico fuses. These 1 amp ones are used in the Rega Radio and Radio R. Some years ago, a power surge in a lightening storm caused the two in my Rega Radio R to blow, thankfully saving the Radio. I had to buy a pack of 10 ... hence now there are 8. My Rega gear is long gone, so hopefully someone else can make use of them as spares. $5 will be donated to Stereonet. Photos: Littelfuse_Fuse_251_253_Datasheet.pdf
  5. Further information: Now surplus to my needs is this pair of "Made in the USA" Infinity Reference 20 bookshelf speakers. I'm open to offers on these speakers from the late 1990s but which are in great condition. They are finished in black ash and I have owned them from new. They have been very well looked after. Cabinets were polished regularly and look as new. They've been used with several amps over the years, ranging from 20 to 75 watts/ch, and performed well with them all. I sat them on Concorde SP24 stands (which I also have up for sale). The woofers were re-foamed by SpeakerWorks in Sydney in 2013/14 (see post-repair frequency response graphs in pics). I bought these speakers because they were used as the monitors in the small (mainly speech work) sound recording studio I once worked in. Maybe it was because I got so used to them but I found - and still find - they give fatigue-free listening for long periods, especially for speech and vocals. I have to downsize and regrettably they must now go. They come in the original box and packaging. Note: They have been in storage for about a year, and on taking them out to photograph them I noted that in 3 spots the foam has started to lift on the woofers (see pics). They still sound great, but obviously those spots need to be re-glued. Specs: Frequency Response50Hz - 25kHz (+/-2.5dB) Crossover Frequency 3kHz Sensitivity 90dB (2.8V/1 meter) Nominal Impedance 6 ohms Power Handling, RMS 15 -100 watts Woofer 20.3cm IMG Tweeter 2.5 cm polycell Dimensions: 465 mm h x 268 mm w x 252 mm d. Box is 61 x 36 x 55 cm and weighs 18.6 kg. It can be sent by Auspost. As as example, postage to Melbourne 3000 would be $54.90. Delivery might be possible if your are in inner Sydney suburbs or close to the M4, please ask. Will be listed on eBay after a few days. Photos:
  6. Further information: Now surplus to my needs are these Concorde SP24 Steel Speaker Stands in Black. They've been in storage for about a year. These have a triangular base making for easy levelling adjustments. They have been carefully looked after and have only slight signs of use. They can be filled with sand or lead shot for extra damping if required. Height of the stands is 24 inches (61 cm). They come in the original box and packaging with spikes and cable guides. The box measures 690 x 300 x 130 mm and weighs 10kg. Example postage from Auspost calculator: to Melbourne 3000 $25.50 to Brisbane 4001 $25.50 to Hobart 7000 $33.50 to Perth 6000 $37.25. Delivery might be possible if you are in inner Sydney suburbs or close to M4. Please ask. They will be listed on eBay after a few days. Photos:
