  1. It's for a room that has a plasma in it already and was planning to drop a big screen in front of it for sports. Just going to use my old ae4000 for it. Already have a dedicated theatre room with a 120" scope screen (oztheatre) and a jvc x500.
  2. I'm chasing a 110" - 120" motorised projector screen in 16:9. I would prefer a known brand but would consider generic options that were purchased from reputable stores (eg. Selby). I'm in Brisbane but willing to pay postage so let me know what you have!
  3. Mods please close this projector is now sold!
  4. I've got up for sale a near new Epson EH-TW3600 with around 400hrs on the original bulb. It's barely been used as we moved house and no longer have a the room to use it. Pick up is available in Brisbane or I've got all the original packaging so I would be able to post at buyer's expense I'm looking for around $800 ono
  5. I'll pay postage if you are not in Brisbane. Otherwise I can pick up!
  6. As the title says I'm chasing a 125" - 130" scope screen preferably in Brisbane but if it is new I'm willing to pay postage. I've got a ozts 120" scope if you are looking to downsize and are after trade.
  7. I'm using a Panasonic ae7000 so not the brightest projector. I think it is distracting but my wife thinks I'm crazy lol. I know it's there so I keep looking at it unfortunately.
  8. I'm hoping this solver paint is as good as the Rosco! As for how much light on the wall it's about 200mm over the top and bottom of the image.
  9. Well I just picked up a can of poster black on my lunch break. They use to come in 1l cans but now only 4l and 20l as solver isn't producing as much of it anymore. It was the last one on the shelf so I grabbed it! Trade price was $65 for the 4l. I'll report back once I've had a chance to put a coat on.
  10. Hey mate I'm not too sure about tin size as I can't seem to find a product page for it so might have to pop in there this arvo. As for masking 16:9 I don't have anything in place at the moment but what i was planning to do is just hang some curtains and draw them when watching 16:9 content. Similar to what they do in theatres.
  11. Thanks for the advice Rich. I went with the Taubmans as it specifies a 1% gloss level which is the lowest I could find. Obviously not knowing I just assumed it wasn't black enough to absorb all the light. I'm glad there is a Solver alternative as even though the Rosco stuff looks the goods I only need to paint one wall! Ps. Wil be hitting you up for a new screen soon this 120" doesn't do the new room justice
  12. As I'm using the zoom method for scope I need to re-paint the wall my screen is on so that I don't see the top and bottom bars on the wall. I picked up some of this yesterday http://taubmans.com.au/Professional/Easy-Coat in flat black which is basically pre-mixed off the shelf. However I painted the wall today and it's closer to charcoal than black and I can still see the bars, obviously not as bad as before. I assuming someone has been down this path so are you able to advise me what paint colour you used to obtain the blackest black!
  13. Just an update. The 100" is now sold!. As for the 120" I'm going to hold onto it until I can get hold of a 130". If someone is wanting to downsize or trade please let me know.
  14. I'm looking at going an AT screen for my new theatre build so I was wondering if there was any interest in my old screens. Screen 1: Oztheatre screen 120" Scope with EVO3D material Screen 2: Screen Technics 100" 16:9 CinemaSnap matt white Both are located in Brisbane and obviously pickup would be preferred. If you are interested send me a PM with an offer.
  15. The seating is around 1.4m apart. Side walls and end seat is about 1.2m. Rear wall and seat is about 0.8m Does anyone know if those paradigms I linked above are bipoles or dipoles? The spec says bi-directional which to my knowledge can mean either?
  16. I've been running the dynamix in 5.1 for a while now and have decided to move to 7.1 and get new surrounds. Reason being is I could never find a position for the dynamix where it sounded good from both seating positions so I figured this would be a good opportunity to try something different. Do you have any suggestions on speaker placement? Looking at around $1k. So far these 2 have grabbed my eye http://www.paradigm.com/products/type=surround/model=surround-3/page=overview http://www.monitoraudio.com.au/products/silver-rx/rxfx/
  17. In an ideal world I'd love to have two rows of speakers! Unfortunately the room is already pre-cabled (it's a 2 story house) and I would rather not purchase additional equipment. After all it is a home theater and although bipoles/dipoles may not be the perfect solution it's the best option I've got at the moment. I guess the first question is would bipoles or dipoles be more appropriate? Then I guess I can start looking in to speakers that would suit the rest of my system from a tone perspective.
  18. I'm after some recommendations for surround left/right speakers in a 7.1 setup. I've got a dedicated room and run harmonix/vortex/seismix up front and have a pair of dynamix that I'll utilise as rear surrounds. As I have 2 rows of seating I was thinking of getting a pair of bipoles for the surround left/right. As Krix don't make bipoles can anyone suggest some brands/models that I should audition?
  19. Anyone experiencing buzzing? I've just received my 65st60 and it has an audible buzz in bright scenes. I've switched it to True Cinema and turned down the contrast but it's still there.
  20. Got links to those settings? Wouldn't mind checking them out. EDIT: Found this very good review http://www.flatpanelshd.com/review.php?subaction=showfull&id=1366730214 which has some settings that I'll try tonight. As for the CNET review I'm guessing you are talking about these http://forums.cnet.com/7723-19410_102-590736/panasonic-tc-p55st60-picture-settings/
  21. Anyone thinking of offloading theirs or upgrading please let me know! Any colour will do but prefer black. I can arrange for shipping if interstate.
  22. Hey JDH I've sent you a message!
  23. Hi guys l'm looking for a squeezebox boom to add to my arsenal. If anyone has one laying around not receiving any attention let me know!
  24. I've spent a bit of time going through the test data on the green glue site and this is what I have gathered: 1. Using the noiseproofing clips with 1 layer of plasterboard (16mm) on either side and insulation (standard) results in an STC of 56 2. Using green glue with 2 layers of plasterboard (16mm) on source side and 1 layer on the other side as well as insulation (standard) results in an STC of 52 There isn't any test data for using both together which I found strange but I would imagine it gives the best results obviously. From a cost/db perspective if you are building from scratch option 1 would by far be the cheapest and give you fairly good results. If you find down the track you want even more sound isolation you can always add another layer plasterboard with green glue (although would cost more to retrofit) where you can't with the clips!
