How important is it to have the braid folded back over the outer (black) sheath when fitting hex crimp connectors? I tried to do it this way but could not get the connector to push on so instead I just cut the braid right back then installed and crimped. Does the braid have to make electrical contact with the connector?
The new coax is Belden quad shielded RG 6, the connectors are from DSE (Dick Smith) and I'm running straight into a Strong 5006 from the antenna - no amp, wall plate etc.
Reason I ask is I still get the same impulse noise problems I had with the old coax (RG 58 or 59 I think it was)
