  1. Hi Greg, thanks for your interest. The music is a mix of my ripped cd collection from the mid 80's through to recent. Most of my new music has been digital downloads including a lot of high res audio. The music collection is quite eclectic with a larger focus on Rock and Folk / Singer-Songwriter style music and smaller amounts of Jazz and Electronica. The music files are easily modified as I have categorized everything into their main Genres. I get what you are saying with trying to get your head around it all, I often hear that from some of our club members when thinking about venturing into digital playback. There is a small learning curve with using a music server and the app but they are much simpler to use than setting up a computer to play music. Cheers Steve
  2. Item: Complete Wyred 4 Sound Music Server 2 package, incl LHL Pulse Dac, Core Audio Tech LPS & Samsung Galaxy Tab3. Location: Sydney (west) Price: $ 1850.00 Item Condition: Very good. Reason for selling: Upgraded to Antipodes DX2 Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: Everything you need for a great sounding Digital File Playback system. Ideal for anyone wanting to enter the world of digital music. Easy to setup and use. Plays most digital files up to 24/192. Can demonstrate how good this combination sounds and also explain how it functions. Have boxes for all units so happy to assist the buyer with their choice of courier. W4S Music Server 2 - http://www.deephzaudio.com/Wyred 4 sound Music Server 2T product page.html I'm the original owner bought from Peter Thompson at Deep Hz Audio. You will need to speak to Peter whether this MS2 unit is comparable to the latest units as far as upgrading to SSD and 32bit audio if you wish to do so. This unit has a 2TB HDD (with about 1.3TB worth of music in Flac files) and 2GB memory. Music buffers into the memory before playback so no music plays directly from the hard drive, eliminating any lag/jitter issues. Rips CDs to internal HDD or simply transfer files over your network from another source. Comes with the original standard power pack. Core Audio Technology Kaia Gen 2 Linear Power Supply - http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/core-audio-announces-new-linear-power-supplies/ A beast of a power supply. This took the sound quality of the MS2 to a much greater level of detail and openness with a blacker background. Honestly, the W4S MS2 with this LPS unit has a similar sound to my Antipodes DX2. Light Harmonic Labs Geek Pulse Dac - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B017VY2VI6/ref=emc_b_5_t Perfect condition. ESS9018K2M Core Dac IC. Can convert bit rates of 1 bit, 16 bit, 24 bit, or 32 bit. It decodes sample rates of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 192 kHz, 352.8 kHz, 384 kHz, 2.822 MHz, 3.072 MHz, 5.644 MHz, and 6.144 MHz. If asking price is met, I'll throw in an Analysis Plus Digital Crystal Coaxial Interconnect - https://www.sydneyhificastlehill.com.au/shop/cables/coaxial-cables/analysis-plus-digital-crystal/ Samsung Galaxy Tab3 10.1 - http://www.samsung.com/uk/tablets/galaxy-tab-3-10-1-p5210zwabtu/ running the Orange Squeeze app which is a third party app that looks and functions better than the standard squeezebox app. Pictures:
  3. Good point Wimbo and the PC police would approve but I'm so over PC, so I call it as Forrest Gump's mother calls it, "Stupid is as stupid does". Like most, I've done some stupid things and learnt from them and there are plenty of things I'm still naive about but at least I have the common sense to avoid a situation I'm clueless with, especially if there's the potential of death. Now don't get me started on the lack of 'common sense' these days.
  4. Not all 'stupid' is a bad thing. Steve
  5. Agree, the BA-2's are a world class speaker both in performance and build. The SAC had the opportunity to experience these along with a presentation from the Brigadiers team at a meeting last May - as well as a follow on meeting in June with Morris and Brad presenting the OneAudio u2 active speakers - I believe Len Wallis sells the BA-2 speakers.
  6. Thank you again Nick for your huge efforts coming over from Adelaide to provide us Sydneysiders and our members the opportunity to hear your presentation and the superb sounding Ella MkII speakers. The Ella's really enjoyed the space at the venue, sounding even better than when I last heard them and without a doubt would sound their best in the homes of those fortunate enough to own a pair. Anyone in the market for speakers in the Ella's price range really need to audition these. I really enjoyed the great company and conversations over a great meal after the meeting and hope your short stay was like a mini working holiday/break from your busy schedule. I look forward to catching up with you later in the year along with the release of any future projects. Cheers mate Steve.
  7. @A J, I seen in another thread you mentioned you had one and was thinking of selling it.
  8. Plinius amp is now **SOLD**. Thank you to all that showed an interest. First responder to audition the amp yesterday has snapped it up. The seduction of Class A power was too much for him to resist. After helping to set the amp up in his system, we first listened to some tunes in Class AB. We then went and grabbed some pizzas to replenish the energy it took lugging the amp into place while we waited for the Class A mode to get nice and toasty. With our hunger satisfied we sanked into the chairs to enjoy more great tracks on vinyl. The Class A was sounding so lush and engaging, it really had his speakers singing at their best. It had the new owner eagerly searching through his collection to drop the needle on another favourite album. Congrats and enjoy the long weekend. cheers
  9. Hi Peter, I'm the second owner, sourced through a club connection. Cavort, I'm sure it's induced this vibe in others but I'm very protective of who it hangs out with so no smoking or pets to dry hump it. Over the years the amp has on a few occasions been used at club meetings with my vintage B&W 801's, which the amp has no problem feeding those hungry buggers and last year with Holloway Sound bookshelves, sounding sweet and controlled in class A but for me at home listening to music is a way to relax and unwind so it has a comfortable life. I have a nearby club member who uses an SA-250 on Dyn C4 speakers and is regularly listening at 110db for hours at a time and the amp never runs dry so it can party hard if required. Cheers
  10. Item: Plinius SA-250 Mk4 Power Amp with Solid Tech Rack of Silence amp stand. Location: Sydney (West) Price: $ 4500.00 Item Condition: Great condition except for scratches on back handles (see photo's) Reason for selling: Opportunity to step up to the Plinius Reference (of course) Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, Only Extra Info: Prefer pickup as the amp is 57kg and bulky. I'm happy to assist transporting and setting up with the new owner living around Sydney. I do have the shipping crate but not the inner box, though could make up something with thick cardboard and foam if you wish to organise interstate transport. 250W into 8 Ohms / 450W into 4 Ohms. 900W into 8 Ohms (bridged / mono mode). Switchable to Class A operation providing 100W of pure Class A bias. Welcome to audition the amp at my place for interested buyers. I can't think of any other amp that would outperform or sound as good as the SA-250 is this price range. I've enjoyed this amp for many years without any issues. I would say the main character sound of the SA-250 amp is neutral, though in my system it provides a slight warm of neutral sound in Class AB and a lush organic sound in Class A. Manual - pdfstream.manualsonline.com/a/a3be5143-d9b7-6694-f986-b709db92f72b.pdf http://hifi-unlimited.blogspot.com.au/2012/11/old-kiwi-brute-plinius-sa-250-mk-iv.html https://www.stereophile.com/solidpoweramps/506plinius/index.html (references the SA-250) WHY CLASS A IS BETTER (From the Plinius manual) Class A has always been regarded as the perfect operating mode for audio amplifiers. Many leading amplifier designers and manufacturers world wide recognise that a well designed Class A circuit has inherently lower distortion than any other design. Class A circuit topology is one in which the total current the amplifier is capable of delivering, is kept flowing in the circuit regardless of demand. In a conventional or Class AB amplifier circuit this current flow varies when demand varies. Furthermore, as current varies, the voltage on the rails (as seen by the output stage) varies too. In a Class A circuit, current draw should be constant therefore there is an absence of the power supply modulation common in Class AB design amplifiers. Pinpoint images, tonal clarification, inter transient silence, more readily defined dynamic shadings, inner detail and authority are all inherent advantages of good Class A design.
