  1. So - quite a busy week on my end. First thing, I missed out on a BorderPatrol SE Dac that was $750 USD But then I ended up buying something completely different that hasn't been mentioned in the thread... Metrum Acoustic Flint DAC TWO. Found a good deal on this at $350 USD Very excited to get it - from what I have read, its essentially a standalone DAC portion of the Metrum Amethyst. I'll post some notes once I get it!
  2. Thanks for the kind words. I'm sure you'll be able to find somebody to make the switch on the Elekit - lots of tech people on these forums.
  3. I've been moving a lot in the past few years, and then eventually moved here to LA so I sold it off before then. I currently have a Hagerman Tuba headphone amp which is very good - more laid back compared to the Elekit, but I will probably sell the Hagerman soon and downsize again. I keep trying to NOT fall down the headphone rabbit hole. That Elekit amp with some of the bigger power tubes in it really makes headphones growl, definitely one of the better headphone amps that I ever used. I really do believe that the lundahl's would take it to another level.
  4. I used to own this amp - its a great performer. Was outstanding with my HD800s. Not sure if you ever look at the Head-fi thread for the TU-8200 -- but Elekit have just worked out a Lundahl transformer upgrade for the amp which i can only imagine takes it up a level or two. EDIT: just realized - you are posting that thread on HF haha
  5. This DAC also looks very interesting (is AD1865 not TDA154# though) https://www.ebay.com/itm/Core-Audio-Kuma-SE-Dac/274649781862?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160811114145%26meid%3Debe3263933014e7f9931e4601310dcb4%26pid%3D100667%26rk%3D8%26rkt%3D8%26mehot%3Dnone%26sd%3D333680342857%26itm%3D274649781862%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2334524&_trksid=p2334524.c100667.m2042 Anybody heard or read about it? My amateur eyes are telling me that there are some decent quality parts in there.
  6. Thanks for the information @akjono USaudiomart...you have to input your address just to make an account which is off-putting. But has more items than audiogon at least. There are definitely some gems on there though. For example, I would take a change on this if I could: https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/649541432-mhdt-laboratory-nos-dac/
  7. Amazing response - thank you I'll update this thread when i have something new in hand
  8. @MattyWI'm very close to pushing go on the Dac Z... but do you have any other review notes you can share? I'm wondering if you can attest to the DAC's quietness/background, and if it is dead silent in operation. I also don't think I would be changing any caps or anything - do you think it is still worth it? Appreciate the help!
  9. Thank you for the responses. Yes, Killerdac is a little out of reach. I wish that the Waiting Audio DAC had some internal pictures, because that would also seem to be built along the same lines as the KillderDac/Abbass dacs. Also I secretly love the aesthetic. Abbas also has this new-er one, the DAC U which comes it at an even higher price than the 2.2 SE: https://www.ebay.com/itm/DAC-U-SE-abbasaudio-5687-EZ35-PCM63K-black-gate-klangfilm-parts/363273416380?_trksid=p2485497.m4902.l9144 DAC Z might be it - though the Abbas 0.1SE would seem to hav
  10. Getting a little itchy with my current DACs and am looking at picking up one of these unknown TDA1541 DACs from eBay. For reference my current DACs are a Chord Mojo and Airist R2R. Not a huge fan of the Mojo though. I'm wondering if anybody has any thoughts, opinions or experience on the below. I'm shooting blind here so anything will help. TDA 1541 dac - https://www.ebay.com/itm/TDA1541A-Non-OverSampling-NOS-DAC-with-Philips-Forum-10th-anniversary-board/174582433275?hash=item28a5ec85fb:g:kiIAAOSw74pfh44t This one looks the most appealing - but to my untra
  11. I've currently got a pair of Grado RS2e, which I love - and not sure whether the best upgrade route should be GS1000e/2000e or just all in with the GS3000e. The PS1000/2000 are not options for me, as I can't stand heavy headphones. I'm committed to Grado cans (picked up a Hagerman Tuba to run them off) but its tough to upgrade when it can feel like the higher end models are lateral steps rather than being an all-round upgrade.
