  1. The speakers were sold and picked up today, but the purchaser did not want the box and packing foam. If anyone wants some solid speaker boxes before I turf them let me know.
  2. Further information: These speaker are just 2 years old and are in prefect condition with not a mark on them. They have been well cared for in a dedicated movie room and driven with quality gear. They were purchased locally at Clef Hi Fi and I have the receipt, packing boxes and all the accessories. Demos welcomed if serious Photos:
  3. All PMs replied to. And yes I am happy to negotiate within reason.
  4. Don’t let me put tour off the 702s they are a beautiful speaker, I am really happy with them. My point was the difference between the two speakers was that the 702 could fill a large room with ease but benefited from being further of both the side and rear wall compared to the 703. I can’t comment on the upgraded 683s but I have heard the stock 683s and you won’t be disappointed with either the 702 or 703s in both sound and the quality of the build and in my opinion the 700 series look great as well!
  5. I remember testing them side by side and I was initially a little underwhelmed with the 702s only to discover they needed a little more space around them than the 703s. So in short if you have a large room with plenty of room to sit the speaker from the walls the 702s will shine, if your room size is not as big the difference diminishes significantly.
  6. The upgrade was actually some time ago to the B & W 702 series 2. Actually a long a boring story but, here goes... At the time of purchase the gloss black 702s were not in stock with no timeframe of there arrival, so i took the 703s. When the 702s finally came in I used the 703s as rears with the intention to move them on to help fund the upgrade. Time went by and i justified keeping them as the 'new plan' was i was going to setup a 2 channel system with a record player in the study. Needless to say for one reason or another this did not get off the ground.

  8. Thanks again for the feedback. I have had a few messages re my exact cartridge, this has not been purchased yet, do I get a better cartridge now before I get the exact fitted this week? Sumiko has been mentioned to me, do I have to spend a lot more to upgrade the exact, anyone who has had an similar table I would love to hear what stood out for you?
  9. Gee thanks guys. just came back from a bike ride with the kids and I’m feeling a little better about my self after reading all the above. Plenty of food for thought, do I stick with the marantz short term and save a few more dollars. Do I get the Rega fono mm or do I try to future proof my self and go up the line. btw thanks for pointing out that my cartridge is MM and the the more expensive ones are MC. Happy to be correct but from all reports the exact is good bang for tour buck and I should be happy with it. as they say knowledge is power and I feel like I am more enchanted that I was just a few hours ago, thanks guys. Keep your thought coming Tommy
  10. Hi team, Happy Sunday. Well i have dipped my toe into the world of vinyl. I am rapt to be getting a Rega rp8 with exact cartride this week,(i know this is an older model but they had a great special on) after some persuading the better half has given me the green light. I though getting the ok would be the hard bit. now i have a reasonable HT understanding but when it comes to TT i know nothing. Sigh... they say there is no such thing as a dumb question well i think i have a few. Im almost embarrassed to ask but here goes... What do i plug the rp8 into. I thought i could plug it into my preamp but from what i have read i need a phono preamp??? My system consists of Parasound a21 amp Parasound JC 2 BP preamp Marantz 7011 receiver, now i noticed this has a phono out but would it work and the rp8 justice? Feeling a little overwhelmed, i use my oppo 205 for cd playback through my parasound pre but it seems i may need something else to run the rp8. From doing my own research i may need something like an rega aria phono and if so what would i connect that to in my setup? Any advise would be greatly appreciated, Thanks Tom
  11. Thanks, very happy with the backdrop. It’s just paneling from Bunnings that I painted black. Re the sound system It’s basic yet affective. As I mentioned earlier I have a dedicated HT room so out here in the lounge room I kept it simple with a Sonos playbar and sub and 2 play 1s for surround duties. Initially I purchased just the sonos playbar and I was a little underwhelmed but after adding the sub it made a massive difference!
  12. I agree! But you have to pick your battles, my wife’s touch... so every time I walk past it I give it a gentle nudge to the left, it’s out of eye shot know!!
