  1. Figured it out... I can't run Bi Amped speakers and presence speakers together, it's one of the other, but not both. This sucks.
  2. *Sigh... I was hoping to avoid resetting the amp, because I'd have to re-learn everything to set it up again lol. They should do the trick for me (if I can get them working) my house is open plan, so I have a front and back wall, but no side walls, so a lot of sound is lost, setting the presence speakers outside facing in with the separate power amp to control volume I'm hoping to gain some of those lost sounds back.
  3. I recently acquired a MX-35 power amp to hook up some presence speakers to my RX-V3900 HT amp, problem is, the RX won't let me select "front presence" and I can't figure out why. I'm using the latest firmware, and I've selected multiple "Cinema DSP" options to hopefully enable the feature, but nothing I do allows me to select the presence speakers to on. checked the trouble shooting on the manual and it only gives 2 reasons, "This unit is in the "straight" mode" and "you are using a source or program the does not output sound from all channels" I've covered both of these. Is there something I'm missing?
  4. My main reason for wanting to update f/w was the latest was listed as "better media streaming connectivity" and I want to see if I can stream spotify to the amp, so far it's all been a waste of time, I need to find a media server that allows streaming of anything being played directly from my pc... not such an easy task from what I can see.
  5. Follow up I fixed it, I found a Yamaha trouble shooting guide, it said to just run through the f/w update again, so I did, and now it works fine.
  6. After years of not bothering about firmware updates, I decided to check it out, it seems the latest update is 1.23 for the RX-V3900. I followed the instructions to check on my current version, but it just comes up with "version error" Anyone know what this means? the last thing I want to do is turn this thing into a brick by some f/w update it maybe doesn't need.
  7. Has anyone heard of ITT Hifi? My wife just picked up a unit form the side of the road, and I've never heard of it, it looks mighty impressive, I found manuals for it, but I just can't seem to find out if it's rubbish or quality gear, I've got an 8032 Reciever/amp & an 8021 tape deck, both about as heavy as each other, maybe 12kg
  8. Hmm... I have a decent Fusion marine amp at about 300wrms and a power supply for a fusion soundboard, if I could hide the amp and power supply I'd consider that.
  9. Surprisingly completely seperate instances, I don't use the sub in stereo, and the Tron incident was post sub failure, the problem with CV electronics is the glue they use to hold it all together, over time it becomes conductive, and when it was repaired he removed as much glue as he could, but obviously you can't get it all, I liken it to trying to dry your chopping board by deconstructing the foreign content with a small pick
  10. Yeah, "real loud" is the key here, I got the CV's because I wanted loud, I've done clarity and searched for perfection but at the end of the day, nothing impresses me like a brutally loud system. And when I say "a few too many times" it's happened maybe 3-4 times in the last 4 years. I'm experimenting with some vinyl, you never hear good vinyl loud, so I'm seeing what I can achieve with what I've got (+1 amp) and if I end up with a better home theatre system then so be it. They are bi amped. Don't get me wrong, it's loud! But not really neighbour complaining loud
  11. Well... I blew up the amp in my Cerwin Vega CLS15S sub, to be honest this is the second time, after I had it repaired I was warned about leaving it turned on, and you guessed it, I left it turned on for one night and it's gone again... So my quastion, are there replacement amps for these sorts of situations? Because the CV electronics are in the same class as Chinese stereos from the 90's, I'm not overly keen on having them stitched up again.
  12. Yep, it's no slouch, but it's also not as good at handling the CV's in stereo as you would think, it's dropped into protection mode a few too many times for my liking, usually under heavy load stereo, but it happened while watching Tron, which has got me a little worried I'm overloading it. Thanks Blakey72, I'll look into those.
  13. I'm chasing some opinions and suggestions on a power amp to match to my Yamaha RXV-3900 and Cerwin Vega CLS-15 fronts. I've got a budget of under $2k. I'm looking for something that can be bi wired, good looking minimalist design , no disco lights and huge digital displays and at least 150w RMS, preferably more. So far the only thing I've found that I like is the Marantz MM7025, but I haven't looked too hard if I'm honest.
  14. No stands sorry @@JOH1975 I might actually have some oil the same tone as these, if I get time I may just give that a go.
  15. Item: Bose 901 Speakers Location: Monbulk, Vic Price: $800 Firm Item Condition: Good Used condition, showing signs of physical age, but still in perfect working order, a little dirty so could use a clean. Reason for selling: They don't really fit and my Car broke. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Paypal fees will be passed on to buyer Extra Info: I purchased these for the back room, but the size of the room is way to small to accommodate these beautiful speakers, I considered moving to a bigger house to use them, but the wife said no I don't really want to ship them, as they are very big and heavy, but I can deliver them for a small fee to the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne. The photo lighting makes them look worse than they are!
