  1. Thanks everyone for your comments, it somewhat makes me regret selling the 'table, however it's now with it's new owner & I'm sure he's enjoying it as I write this!
  2. Further Information: Up for sale is something you won't see every day: a Technics SL-1210GAE Limited Edition turntable. Serial Number 5xx of only 1210 produced. I believe only 40 of these made their way to Australia in total, so this is quite a rare item. Handmade in Japan prior to Technics moving all turntable manufacturing to Malaysia. I originally purchased the unit with a view to building a system around it. This is unlikely to happen in the near future so I am reluctantly putting it up for sale. Unit was unpacked & set up to check cosmetic and functional condition, then repacked and placed into storage. Only a handful of records were played. I have included three generic pictures of an unpacked unit for reference, these are not pictures of the actual unit for sale (and no cartridge is included). Local pickup preferred however will consider shipping at buyer's cost & risk. Price is firm and includes SNA seller fees. Please message me with any questions and I would be happy to answer.
  3. Further Information: I'm currently in Sydney helping a family member downsize and move to a smaller home. As a result they have reluctantly decided to move on this gorgeous pair of Dynaudio C2 Confidence 2 loudspeakers. There's not really a lot to say about these speakers -- those who have heard them know how good they are. There's a "natural honesty" about their sound -- detailed and musical, yet also forgiving of less then ideal recordings. For a music lover they're likely to be as good as it gets and would likely be most people's end-game speakers, especially at the asking price. Family member leads a busy lifestyle hence these speakers have hardly had any use. They have never been over-driven, always cared for and as a result are in near-new condition. Original shipping crates are available for safe shipping however the owner is ideally looking for a local sale. Please note that the speakers are also advertised elsewhere & the owner is still considering keeping them, so this advertisement could be withdrawn at any time. If you're interested please message me and I'd be happy to help with any questions you may have.
  4. Thanks, tried that a few times, got put through to the Accounts department via IVR and asked to leave a message -- doubt they'll be able to help but will keep trying. Also Emailed Support & still waiting for a response. They're a completely different entity these days compared to 2001, located in Perth now so not sure if they'll be very helpful even if I do manage to receive a response...
  5. Hi all, Need some assistance from Melbournites if possible. I have an older vehicle that was fitted with a Quiktrak system back in 2001. I'm unable to disarm the alarm unfortunately so the car is dead in the water at the moment due to the ignition kill. I've tried all the obvious stuff -- two different remotes, remote batteries are good, vehicle battery reads 12V, etc. -- without luck. There used to be an auto sparky that was able to service these systems, he may have been located in Essendon once upon a time. Does anyone out there know of this guy, or could recommend a decent sparky to come onsite & take a look? Cheers & thanks.
  6. A family member has the next model along, Rotel RCD-991AE -- great player.
  7. This 1.0m pair has been sold. I have a 1.5m pair available if anyone is interested. Thanks Des (@Willco) for your feedback in the meantime, they really are excellent cables.
  8. I've had the cable for several years, from memory it was the entry-level cable in the line-up when I purchased it. Compared to the current line-up, that would equate to either the Performance PowerLink or High Performance PowerLine, I couldn't say which. I can say that whilst both of those cords are only 12AWG, mine is 10AWG, so theoretically my cable should have a higher current capacity.
  9. On hold pending payment clearing & subsequent pickup. Many thanks to all prospective buyers who expressed their interest.
  10. Item: Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 Mk II Location: Melbourne Price: $500 Item Condition: Excellent cosmetics, functional issues (see below) Reason for selling: Surplus Payment Method: Pickup - Cash (Can post) Extra Info: Up for sale is an Audio Aero Capitole 24/192 Mk II CD Player/DAC. I am the first owner of this unit & it was purchased locally from distributor/retailer Greg Osborn at Osborn Loudspeakers. Whilst cosmetics are excellent as with all of my gear, this particular unit has functional issues which I will describe as best I can. A few months after I had new tubes installed & a full check of the unit performed by authorised local service agent Tony Moore of Ambience Loudspeakers, the unit started switching itself on & off repeatedly after being turned on from cold. My research at the time suggested this was a known problem related to the power supply. Seeing as I was already ready for a change, and considering the unit had been checked only a few months before, rather than send it to Tony yet again I elected to place it into storage until I had the time & inclination to have the issue looked into. Now, several years later, I have pulled it out of storage & found the player exhibiting the same issue (no surprises there). On a hunch, I've opened the unit and removed & re-seated all the accessible ribbon cables. This has improved matters. Now, the unit powers up from cold & stays powered up. I've checked the DAC section via the TOSLink input & all works fine from cold. The transport/CD player section however does not read discs until the unit has been powered on for around an hour. Once the unit is on & warmed up, it seems to continue working fine on both the DAC section & the transport/CD player section, and sounds as good as it always has. My gut tells me this is still a power supply issues however I am not able to troubleshoot any further. Apart from the above, I know that the RCA DAC input does not work. The BNC DAC input was working last time I checked (I don't have a suitable cable/adapter to check it these days), The TOSLink DAC input works fine. I don't have the ability to test the AES/EBU DAC input. So, there you have it, a CD player/DAC in excellent cosmetic condition with some functional issues. This is still one of the best digital players I've ever heard, it somehow manages to "find the music" in digital in a way that only vinyl can do. I still remember the first time I heard it in my system -- it made all other digital I'd heard up to that point sound broken. Still, the unit has been sitting in storage for several years now, and I still find myself lacking the time/motivation to pursue a repair. Therefore I'd rather move it on to someone else for a bargain price -- the Philips CD Pro2 transport & new tubes are worth my asking price alone. Considering it is a locally sourced unit, there should be no issues having it serviced locally. Otherwise, it would be suitable for spares for an existing owner, or else someone more technically inclined that I could self-repair. Who knows, it may even continue to work for years to come as long as it's warmed up... All factory packaging, remote & User Manual are included. Local pickup preferred, can post at buyer's expense.
