Be keen to know what your thoughts are on his headfi rig. Be great if you could bring your msb down for comparison.

i2s to spdif conversion is well proven (your cpd as transport) usb to spdif not so much, which is why the "proven" converters cost so much (think audiphillio and offramp). Then add another conversion item within the chain....

FS: Kondo + Avantgarde system

Interested in the speakers of the other pieces are accounted for -
Alternatively Soap, if you order from Schiit directly, they do a 15 day in-home trail however, its probably not worth it given shipping/customs. That being said, I'm not sure what more you are looking for, I'd hazard a guess that the Yggy is more of a sidegrade than an upgrade for the MSB analogue. If I was looking to take a punt on a DAC that cost more than the MSB I might look at the rockna or totaldac options.

It's raining DACs!

The Schiit flagship Yggy might be worth a punt. -
It has 4x the amount of taps as the Hugo though, so the processing power of the sac is clearly better.

DAC shoot-out / GTG in Perth
Henry Vu replied to JDWest's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
Just thought I'd add that I actually really appreciated johns system for a dac shoot out. Great "blank canvas" to gauge the character of the dacs. I'd love to do another get together with everyone involved but with less dacs with everyone choosing a recording themselves as their reference track. Just to throw a bone to all the killer owners past and present, whilst not trying to be one of those owners that blindly defend and praise the killer and forsake all others. What I'm sure that most owners of the dac will agree about it though is it is voiced very specifically and is very picky with recordings and generally sounds average or crap with anything else. In some ways you can actually learn to resent it because it actually can reduce your overall enjoyment of music in general because it shrinks your listenable library. I'd love to compare it to other dacs on recordings that I know it sounds great with to see if those other dacs also shine. Caveat being the majority of my listening now is through onboard computer sound listening to YouTube and I'd be quite content with all dacs that I had the pleasure of listening to. -
DAC shoot-out / GTG in Perth
Henry Vu replied to JDWest's topic in Digital Sources, DACs, and Computer Audio
Here are my notes for the dacs that I managed to listen to, note that I only listed the faults of each dac but found all to be reasonable. Meitner - dry Vitus - almost too shouty in the midrange Vega - dry Nad - flat and little smeared Killer - lacking transient attack While it was great to get all the devices together. Would be great to organise a time to do it again with maybe 3/4 dacs only to get a better listen to each one. -

Thanks for having me guys, too bad I couldn't stay longer, there were a few dacs I really wanted to hear that didn't get a chance to. -
