  1. has anyone watched a movie called the deaths of ian stone wo that was out there
  2. i think it goes like this the movie in blu ray can only be as good as the standard it was filmed in when made. blueray movies any older than say two years maybe better as they were filmed in somthing better than what a standard dvd shows. i watched a favorite called dark city in bluray and a have a dvd too. it was better but not so much as the last harry potter which was astounding in the 3d images. i play mine on a 26lcd monitor and a blu ray drive in my pc. the pc is a quad core and pulls up the images briliantly. id say this vcr is vcr dvd is dvd. dont go any older than say three to four years after production on bluray your totaly wasting your money.
  3. cyborg 2 with a young agelina jolley wow even with out the you know whats she was even hotter other classic dark city which i now have on bluray and forbidden planet a 1956 movie with the orignal robbie the robbot.
  4. marc just remember its not speed you want so much as multitasking ability a dual or single core pc will do a limited number of tasks quickly, as say a quad core at 2.4 gig will better handle more tasks and is the bees nees for video editing. i have a quad with 64 bit vista just remember forget a 32 bit system with say windows 32 bit software as you know no matter how much ram you stick in its limited to i think 2.8 gig it can actually use. as 64 bit software and hardware is almost unlimited. i am a network admin and techie. this machine with a quad core and 64 bit system will recode video at about four to six times the speed of any pc regaurdles of speed my base unit cost about three thou at the time but the cpus were 800 hundred thing is the motherboard will have to be changed i setteled on an asus commando board keep in mind speeds and cableing. this came with two gigabyte network card built into the board but cable speeds dont run at anywhere near that speed. the fastest hardrive you can afford would help a heap. even if you were to get a smaller but fast primary drive and a cheaper but larger secondary drive. my email is geekydude.portman@gmail.com
  5. sorry im new here first day will pay more attention ta keith
  6. some oldies like me have mentioned they would like and old comm64 maybe just to relive those fun days well here it is a comm64 can be made for almost free from an old pc say prior to pentium 100 the software to run comm games is free along with endless amounts of free games on the nett. the only part you would have trouble finding is the dual layer floppy drive there were some made for pcs but there like gold how much is a old 286 going to set you back lol so here is to reliving a part of history

  8. i think it works like this the remaster is only as good as the original studio recording like putting 1963 forbidden planet out remasted on say bluray what a joke. what you do get is a fresh copy from the original studio recording but not all the time really cant see the point in remastering much at all
  9. linkin park godsmak mm stone temple pilots i buy cd for a dollar or two its like a lucky dip a great way to broaden my tastes lol i make drink coasters out of the bad ones with nice pic on he cd
  10. I have a old vcr i want to have repaired its a jvc digital vcr with ten times oversampling it includes a min dvr tape player and was for video editing and will bring up a picture on a vcr cartridge that wont play on any other it actualy is able to step one frame at a time with a clear digital image. i looked up the original cost new it retailed for five thousand. but lol i broke it a vcr jamed i was a little rough and now it wont load the mini dv wont play either. has anyone old technology they want to fix but are afraid to ask like a comm 64 where the dual sided old floppy drives give up first ??????
  11. hmm have perfect storm dvd but its a pirate if anyone wants it let me know il post it of to you im in perth wa cool movie but my youngest is 16
  12. problem with old movies and bluray is there only as good as the quality they were recorded in at the time. a huge diff between say dark city and the latest harry potter. even though both are on bluray disks its like converting a vcr movie and making a dvd from it. it will only be digitised vcr quality. lol sorry about the speling.
  13. i have this a quad core pc. a bluray player+dvd burner combo drv my pc is all this its :cool:my tv with 26in lcd monitor :cool:my dvd and blu ray disk player plus cd ect ;)its all my music collection and its hmm about 100gig of mps its five exturnal terabyte hard drives where movies are converted to divx as a whole dvd becomes 700 meg its ha yes my pc so entertainment lol games and net word ect i have an 7.1 channel card and speakers with 200 wat sub a wirless keyboard and mouse and the important one a media centre remote only about 40 dollars. there is no tv in my house no sterio no dvd or blu ray disk player no turntable even my vcr runs through a capture card and old vids bought for a dollar are captured to hard drive while i watch them via the vid capture card which is also the tv card. a cd or dvd disk is played once only then coppied to the hard drives lined up like books on a shelf. how much did all this cost not that much probably about three thousand over a period of time. but its everything only set back if a family member dont like pcs or know how to use one correctly you have a problem. i dont even have to get off my ass once i have booted her up set up correctly even that can be done with the vista remote. dvd and bluray drives do need replacing about every two years as a rule but there a lot cheaper than a dvd player. and a bluray drv is about a hundred more than a standard dvd burner :cool:its all so really works
