  1. I had a pleasant visit from Tony late this week....he did a road trip to Sydney, where he did a calibration on my aging 1080p projector. The cal was everything I could've hoped for. The projector was a bit quirky, which meant Tony had a bit of a learning curve with it, but he dove in boots and all and nutted it out in short order, and indeed seemed to revel in it's adjustability. I'm not the best photographer, and I don't have any 'before' shots, but here a few 'after' shots........
  2. Hello Chris, Sure is; you're the first nibble. Regards, Phil
  3. Item: Professional video tripod Price Range: Free Item Condition: Used Extra Info: I am offering a professional video tripod. I forget the brand now, but the triangle and circle logo is an aussie company started by Robert Eric Miller before or after he founded Miller Tripods. It's a beast; about 1m retracted, about 1.7m extended. It has a fluid head and bowl. The thread on the shaft at the bottom where the wingnut is is stripped; you can see the wingnut is upside-down just to hold it in place. The camera plate is also missing. All this means it is probably best suited to be 're-purposed' as a lamp stand or something, although it could be rebuilt. The fluid head is still smooth and buttery, if a bit stiff. Sorry for the crap pics, but I couldn't be arsed to take 'em again for a freebie. If it's of interest to you, they're good enough to see what I'm talking about! I am located in 2229 Lilli Pilli in Sydney (near Cronulla). I am available most days, but can leave on front landing if I am going to be out. Regards, Phil
  4. Item: Marantz ST-521 Tuner Price Range: Free Item Condition: Used Extra Info: I am offering a Marantz ST-521 tuner. I haven't tested it except to power up, but not much to go wrong with these. I am located in 2229 Lilli Pilli in Sydney (near Cronulla). I am available most days, but can leave on front landing if I am going to be out. Regards, Phil
  5. Item: Yamaha T-520 Tuner Price Range: Free Item Condition: Used Extra Info: I am offering a Yamaha T-520 tuner. I haven't tested it except to power up, but not much to go wrong with these. I am located in 2229 Lilli Pilli in Sydney (near Cronulla). I am available most days, but can leave on front landing if I am going to be out. Sorry the pics look a bit yucky, I was trying to draw out details on the black fascia... Regards, Phil
  6. Thought I'd give this ad a resurrection; three and a half years later, they're still in the garage taking up space. C'mon diyers; good to tidy up for a project!
  7. If you remove the crossover from the rear and shine a torch, you may be able to i.d. the compression driver. It may help show how the 2405 tweeter is crossed over, too. So, you're getting there; -tweeter 2405 -midrange acoustic lens 2310 with almost certainly 2309 horn, compression driver to be determined -bass driver 2215
  8. Another obvious departure from the L300 is the acoustic lens; it's a 2310, a golden anodised version of which was used on the Hartsfield, so it's reasonable to assume the horn would be a 2309 (with 375 as driver?).
  9. My recently completed, highly modified, ex-commercial use Venco 'Farrago'. Once I get the wow, flutter, and rumble sorted, it will compete with other turntables.......
  10. Yes, sorry, long since sold elsewhere. I'll report the listing as sold. Good luck in your search, Phil
  11. Yep, loudspeakers are different again; whether or not they are mounted in their enclosures they attract 5% duty over AU$1k, unless they are bandwidth limited and 2" or less. Edit; sorry, I didn't read your post correctly. Someone dropped the ball on that, and you would have grounds to apply for a refund if you could be bothered. I got stiffed for customs and duty on some cartridges that I got repaired that I shouldn't have been charged for. TNT Express did a lazy job of brokering and it cost nearly $300 in incorrect duty/GST. I have to decide myself whether it's worth jumping through bureaucratic hoops or just accept it as a lesson learned. Same. I just got a large, heavy preamplifier through the post that was declared at over AU$1000, and it just sailed straight through. Yeah, don't try to pull the wool over Aus customs eyes though, they're much better at it than thee and me! I think with a bit of homework and patience, it is possible to do a better job as the end-user than a broker, they just want to do the paperwork tout suit, even if costs you more money...after all, why would they care about that if you don't know any better? Regards, Phil Edit: Just saw the date of the original post...haha!
  12. Ah, o.k., I see. I made it through the description which was big on guff, but small on specs. It's good that it has a teflon dielectric, anyway. The input impedance of the 'speaker level' connection on REL subwoofers is very high, I believe over 100kohm. This is so as not to impact on the main power amp/speakers, so it should be relatively immune to the cable used. Personally, I'd be looking elsewhere for improvements. I have never used anything but the stock cable with my REL storm, so can't comment on different cables. Regards, Phil
  13. Hi Matt, -If the cost of the goods not including shipping is less than AU$1000, you pay nothing in duties and GST, even if the combined cost of goods and shipping is over AU$1000. -If the cost of the goods is over AU$1000, you will get hit up for 5% duty and 10% GST, calculated on the cost of goods and shipping combined. -However, if you declare them as 'parts for a sound reproducer' rather than a 'sound reproducer', there is no duty payable, you just pay 10% GST. There is a chance that even if it's over the AU$1000 threshold, it may slip through the cracks; much less so if it is sent via courier rather than the postal system. Regards, Phil
  14. Hello Bob, I don't have the cables in front of me to confirm, but I'd be fairly certain that REL's reference to 'High Level Cable' is not referring to it being premium quality. It is referring to the fact that it is speaker level cable, not line level (RCAs). REL feel that the subwoofer integrates better with the main speakers using speaker level connection, as it goes through all the same gain stages as the main speakers. I assume that the cable that came with your subwoofer has a Speakon connector at one end, and three spade connectors at the other end (for summing your speaker outputs to mono)? This is the 'High Level Cable'. I hope all that makes sense, Phil
