  1. I have a VSX D512 (5.1 channel) and have bought a VSX 815 (7.1 channel) for the pre-outs feature. The D512 is slightly heaver and I take the volume to about -36 for optimum SQ. Higher than that the sound "thins out" The 815 has a slightly smaller and lighter transformer and the volume needs to be up a bit more for the same output, around -20. At this stage I'm not sure if it has the same amount of grunt as the old one. Should this be any cause for concern? Does the output vary a lot between different models of the same manufacturer & era? Both are rated at 100w per channel 8ohm 1%THD Thanks
  2. Hi. Thanks for the comments. I have a Pioneer VXS-D512, no pre outs. Plenty of used receivers around the $150 mark with pre outs. I'm tempted to stick with Pioneer because I'm familiar with the functions.
  3. What's with the "Zone 2, Line Out" output on the Onkyo's? Can that be used as a pre out to a 2 Channel power amp?
  4. I have also been considering a used Onkyo or Yamaha AVR with pre outs to run a rotel for the ATS'5?? Any suggestions for a good AVR greatly appreciated
  5. Hi, so I have a very outdated Pioneer receiver that running a pair of Aaron ATS5's, pair of Aaron surrounds and a Jensen QX85 160W active sub (2.1/ 4.1) I also have a pair of Technics 1200's and Pioneer DJM600 mixer going into the receiver. And a bluray player & TV audio in for home theatre Since connecting up the DJ gear it's become obvious that the receiver doesnt have enough grunt. So I was thinking a used Rotel power amp but don't want the added cost of pre amp thus losing the tuner, sub out, remote control etc. Is the Onkyo A9050 a good option? Or is there simply a better AV receiver that could handle the task? I'd just like some more power for the ATS5's without too much complication or cost. Thanks
  6. Hi. I'm looking to spend up to 2K on a projector set up. Couch will be 4.5m from the screen I'm watching these in my ebay. 84" Elite Screen http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/181105777785?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Infocus SP8600 http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271254546623?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 Screens can be had for a lot cheaper... is there much between cheap & mid range screens?
  7. There's no site feedback section so I'll post in here. I spent some time last night making a listing for my Koss CM-1020 speakers. The first submission didn't have the format copy pasted so I re did/ re submitted but mod has not listed my item. Can someone please tell me why my ad has not been listed? Thanks
  8. Item: Koss CM-1020 loudspeakers Location:Brisbane Price: $50 Item Condition: I've been storing these for a mate for about 2 years. I had no space in the house so they've been in the back shed propped up off the floor. But with all the rain we've had the humidity had caused mildew to form on the cabinets. They still function but will need some rejuvenation. One of the cabinets has had a new terminal plate installed on the back. If you research these speakers (please see links below) you'll see they are a very high quality speaker and I would like to offer them to the forum first before resorting to an online auction. Thanks Reason for selling: Not being used Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: http://www.stereo.net.au/forums/showthread.php/12910-KOSS!-American-made-masterpieces?highlight=koss Pictures: NOT A PHOTO OF THE ACTUAL ITEM. If you would really like to see the speakers then mention it in the topic and I'll get some photos up. Thanks http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=184816
  9. Well if it was class A I wouldn't be using it to run with all my AV that's for sure. It does add up. Average qld rates are 21c per kWh continuous (light and power) and 11c for off peak (hot water)
  10. Thanks for the posts guys. Paul, the specs on that behringer amp look great. I have used behringer DJ mixers in the past which have been very poor quality, has the brand become better in recent years? That's some great info about sensitivity, thanks for putting it in laymans terms for me. Can you suggest some high sensitivity speakers for me? Or would it be a worthy DIY project maybe sourcing some speakers, tweeters, crossovers from Jaycar/ebay? I would like to hear a pair of these Klipsch sometime. If price is anything to go by, these would be winning for sure.
