  1. If you only play files from your own source such as a NAS, this is probably true. However if you use services like Spotify, you will need the ability to update the software; as these third party services make changes Sonos also needs to make changes to keep the services running properly. I sold a couple of connect amps about a year ago but still have a 1st generation Play 5 in my shed, plus a couple of Play 1 and the new Sonos Amp. I'm not sure whether I will take the Sonos offer of a 30% discount and buy another Play 1 for the shed or sell it all now. I will definitely not buy any of of the more expensive Sonos equipment ever again and I suspect many other customers will take a similar view. This is a challenge to the Sonos brand as a high end consumer audio company, as people will not pay good money for equipment for something they perceive as having too short a lifespan. I wonder if there is a way to hack the obsolete Play 5 Gen 1s; if the amplifier section and speakers still work, could this be reused with the line in? You could then add a bluetooth dongle and at least continue to use it as a bluetooth speaker. Sonos are breaking the reduce, reuse, recycle approach by jumping straight to recycle and at the same time encouraging increased consumption. I have a very low opinion of the company.
  2. I've dropped the price to $250 for a quick sale. Times have changed since I bought this DAC and more people are after a USB input so the price now reflects this. Cheers
  3. I've had some questions about this DAC. Unfortunately it's not the USB version. It has XLR, optical and coaxial inputs. I used the optical input from a Sonos Connect/ZP90. With my Parasound amp I used the unbalanced outputs, but with my Jeff Rowland 102 I used the balanced outputs.
  4. Item: Sonos Connect/ZP90 Location: Adelaide Price: 250 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: I have no time for critical listening so I'm selling all my stereo equipment Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I'm the original owner of this Sonos Connect/ZP90. I use it as a digital transport and feed it into a Benchmark DAC 1, then into a Parasound Halo 23 amp, then to a pair of Vaf I91 speakers. The unit is in excellent condition, with no cosmetic damage. I use this as an outboard DAC taking a digital feed from a Sonos Connect. It then feeds straight into a power amp. Pictures:
  6. Item: Parasound Halo A23 power amplifier Location: Adelaide Price: 750 Item Condition: Excellent Reason for selling: No time for critical listening so I'm selling all my stereo equipment Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank Transfer Extra Info: This amp is in excellent condition. 7. Item: Vaf I91 Mk1 with Stands Location: Adelaide Price: $950 $750 firm. This is the one and only price drop. Item Condition: 7/10, some cosmetic damage only Reason for selling: No time for critical listening, so I'm selling all my stereo equipment Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Bank Transfer Extra Info: I'm the original owner of these Vaf I91, Mk1 speakers (serial numbers 944 & 945). They are a custom metallic silver finish with matching stands and speaker grills. These speakers perform flawlessly. However there is some cosmetic damage. Since owning these speakers I have moved house 4 time and there is some very minor, but obvious marking. Speaker 945 has minor mark on a front corner. Speaker 944 has obvious cosmetic damage, due to my son knocking it over (fortunately I was setting up the speakers and they were not on top the stands). Auditions are welcome on weekends (please note it wouldn't be a long audition as I'm time poor). If you have any music you would like to hear please bring it on a USB in FLAC format as I only have a digital set-up. Speakers and stands can be collected from Adelaide (10 mins south of CBD).
