  3. Far worse than that. I know of people on this forum that provide opinions on display devices they've never actually even seen in person!
  4. It was in reference to the Crystallio question. The 3800 was the king of the hill in its day, and still does some things best.
  5. There's a very comprehensive scaler comparison here
  6. I have a KV-HR36M31 available for free on collection in Perth. But there is a catch. It's just failed with the 10 LED blinks which I believe is a failure requiring the replacement of two cheap IC's. I already replaced a single (socketed) MC-Z3001DB as this IC has failed a couple of times previously, so I hadn't bothered checking to see if it was the same issue again. So effectively that IC should be good for another several years. Anyway I don't believe there's a lot to fixing and the picture and sound on this unit are still perfect, only I'm no longer up to these sort of shenanigans. So if anyone is up to the tasks they can have for free a very nice TV. Cheers
  7. Right fair enough, I was just curious thanks.
  8. Any reason you didn't just perform the upgrade on your 1000?
  9. While this is by no means a high end DLP, one would do well not to place too much value in Owen's projection musings. There's a reason why the most expensive digital projectors in the world are all DLP. The JVC's are a great bang for your buck, but by no means the pinnacle of projection technology.
  10. Right, well that rules out a lot of the suggestions here. I would suspect a picture processing board or mainboard also then. Actually googling seems to suggest some of these had colour wheel issues. Maybe it's gone out of sync. A video calibration colour test pattern may narrow this down.
