Hello All
just an update on the new Reference version of the FoilFlex Cables.
Some additional improvements have been found with the type of outer finishing mesh we are using on the interconnects.
The new material makes the end product a little more prone to damage if for instance the cables are kicked or accidentally pulled on .
It must though be about the sound in the end so if the end product is slightly more fragile thats the way it has to be . I'll keep Ya'LL up to date on whats happening .
We have at this time a decent and audible improvement in sound over the original cable Talk Soon Mike Lenehan

Don't tell me that Mike! I'll end up buying new cables!
I still love the existing FoilFlex RCA and speaker cables I'm running.... Perhaps I should get new FoilFlex XLR's though to displace the Ghost Cables I've got between my DAC and Balanzer (harmonic generator). From Balanzer to SIT-A15 power amp are FoilFlex RCA's.
Would you be able to describe the audible changes from the current generation FoilFlex cables thanks Mike?
Hi Matty
we have the new cables burning in now ! I’ll come back to you ASAP in respect of the exact differences between the current and new cable. Regards Mike

I have tried and been disappointed by the Entreq Vibbeaters........your Toppers operate on a entirely different manner.......any comment Mike?
Hi Mick
yes indeed ! there is a tuned weight that operates in antiphase with the Loudspeaker ! It does not act to reduce the resonant vibration of the speaker enclosure. More importantly a part of its tuned vibration operates in antiphase to the fore aft vibration of the speaker.
When the bass driver goes back and forth to reproduce the lower frequencies it also pushes the entire enclose backward and forward .
Our Patented AMG (Anti Mass Generator) cancels a significant proportion of this motion.
The result is immediately audible ! and produces better soundstage depth and resolution. This is audible within about 10 seconds of hearing them . We will also be offering a 30 day 100% money back guarantee . This was available with the earlier version and we never had a set sent back.

G'day Mike, I have kept my eyes open for any of the original ones to come up second hand for a couple of years. I'd be very keen to hear them on my ML2 Anniversary's and ML1 Reference's. Cheers, Mark
Hi Mark
you would hear the difference in about 10seconds guaranteed . This version will be ahead of the original version.

What would be the cost and would they be suitable to any brand speakers?
Neo
Hi Neo
hoping to be $900 or less for a pair ! Yes they work on any speaker as the tuning of the suspended weight is averaged for any loudspeaker .
It is possible to improve the performance above this level but it would require hand tuning to a dedicated speaker and height to maximise the antiphase response. Regards MIke

We are in development now on updates to our FoilFlex Interconnect Cables ! Both XLR balanced and RCA single ended.
Initial listening tests have produced some significant improvements in performance.
More as soon as we have some more information. Regards Mike lenehan

Hello out there everyone
we have a new version of the AMG Loudspeaker Toppers ! The new version uses updates on the mass tuning and suspension system of the old Toppers . Development is near complete and we will be offering a full 100% 30day money back guarantee. The improvement is immediately obvious even with the new Magnesium Limited Loudspeakers.
We may send one or two pair out for a free listen if anyone is interested ? All the best Mike lenehan

What is the sonic difference between the SEAS Excel Graphene treated magnesium cone and the SEAS Excel Precision cast and surface treated magnesium cone?
Is one better than the other or are they just different?
Hi MrRogers
Ok both drivers are exceptional and are definately the best I have heard ! determining the sound difference is very difficult because both drivers have required quite different Crossovers.
There was certainly an problem initially making the Graphene driver work correctly . The low pass filter uses only one reactive component in the signal path and two rather odd ! or lets say different shunting circuits working in unison to attenuate the Magnesium diaphragm breakup mode which was quite fierce at around 5K .
The later Graphene Magnesium has more Linear diaphragm excursion than the earlier Magnesium version and more cone area.
So the difference in outright sound quality is very small but the Graphene Magnesium plays louder and goes deeper in the bass.
Certainly nothing I had ever heard was able to exceed the ML2Refrence or ML2 Limited in any area of performance. We had traded
Quad 2912 Electrostatics $23,000 ! Focal BE 1038 $16,000 ! B@W 802D $32,000 and a plethora of other high end speakers BUT
the Magnesium Limited is obviously and immediately well ahead of the ML2's !!!! Hearing this myself was a significant revelation to me as the Nomex Drivers ( carbon fibre impregnated synthetic paper) were in my mind unbeatable .
Keep listenin Lads

Hi Gremrock
yes exactly ! all materials used have a different energy storage signature. Generally not related to how much these materials cost but more related to how much time is invested in altering the bracing and metal lamination thicknesses internally.
We are currently using Cast Iron rod , Silicone filled copper tubing and two different densities of ply for internal bracing .
Steel plate in three different thicknesses is used on all internal surfaces ! which explains the 30 odd Kilo weight of the speakers. Regards Mike Lenehan

Mike,
Could I please ask whether you considered other dense hardwoods like Jarrah, Turpentine, Grey Box or Ironbark? Or whether people could special order in different ones?
I have longed for a set of your stand mount speakers for many years and these sound like the ones to get but must admit I am not the biggest fan of Merbau.
Thanks David.
Hi David
yes we could build from whatever types of timber is available in the correct sizes . I could check what is available and come back to you . A phone call is the best way to go I think David give me a ring on 0418 765726 Regards Mike Lenehan

You guys on Stereonet are the first to hear about the new Magnesium speakers ! We’ve only sold three pair so far to very good customers.
Accumulating all the parts and building procedures is quite a task believe me.
it may be another month or so before we can get a pair out for review.

@Lenehan Audio will the titanium specials have more height of the virtual sound stage than floor standers also? As I heard that someone said the ML2's had a very nice floating soundstage a couple of fee above the top of them, true to the height of the singer or stage their on. Is this the kind of magical presentation the magnesium special offer also?
Hi Quigzy
Soundstage height of the new magnesium is the same as the ML2 !
however the soundstage itself is significantly superior. For instance one of my reference recordings is Harry Belafonte live at Carnegie Hall !! The 3D of Carnegie Hall is truly the best I have heard .
soundstage also extends significantly wider than the positioning of the speaker placement.
so if you have them 3m apart image width will be around 5 to 6m .
pure resolution with zero brightness or glare is their presentation .

@Warwick Robson You lucky duck getting to listen to them, I bet they're amazing.
So would you say these match the staging of floorstanding speakers? I have floorstanders with Lyngdorf TDAI 3400 and two REL S812 subs in stereo (not that they need it, but it does open the soundstage up further).
Would these new Lenehans with 2 subs be a better solution?
Hi Quigzy
Floorstanders cannot match the soundstaging of a standmount ! WHY Ok the reason is that the baffle of any loudspeaker reflects forward a time delayed distorted energy .
The energy deflected forward has to do with the surface area and dimensions of the baffle face . The larger the baffle the lower the frequencies that are reflected forward . This is why the Magnesium Ltd has a small front baffle area .
The ultimate soundstaging loudspeaker would be a driver that was hanging from a piece of string .
If you want to hear absolutely State Of The Art sound staging > then this is the speaker. The better the room of course the better the soundstaging as well . If you want to hear your room and system disappear and just be left with a 3 Dimensional picture of the original performance , this is the best speaker I have ever heard .
There is only one Loudspeaker I have heard that I feel may have been in the ballpark with our earlier ML2 Speaker , that is the Vivid G3 Giya .
But they were $100,000 per pair . I was at the time unable to do a direct comparison with the ML2 as they were in separate systems .
The Magnesium Ltd is however significantly ahead of our earlier ML2.
What size room do you have Quigzy ? If its not a huge room I dont believe you will need a sub at all

Hi Mike,
Good to read the write up. Pleasing to see you are using solid timber. The weight is less than the ML2 Ltds. What is the timber? Why steel and not copper internally?
John
Hi John
we are using Merbau Hardwood ! the densest timber we could find ! Copper worked best with the HD3 enclosures we used with the ML2 Limited speakers because of the higher resonant frequency of the HD3 .
The copper had a lower FS than the steel so the combination produced better damping .
The overall enclosure energy storage is lower . Regards Mike

Hi Guys
yes I know I'm dragging the chain NoDoubt ! this latest Magnesium Loudspeaker is the first truly new design since the introduction of the ML series which all used the Peerless Nomex Bass drivers .
Why did I settle for the Nomex Drivers ( Carbon Fiber Impregnated synthetic paper ) Well because they sounded like Paper in the Midrange yet had a bass response like a Polypropelene type driver !! Best of both worlds at the time , and indeed for 15years after starting with these drivers I could find nothing better . I had tried Ceramic ! Aluminium and various combinations of synthetic and composite compounds yet nothing would touch the Nomex Peerless drivers.
Ok along comes the Seas Magnesium cone bass drivers !! So after speaking with Seas I decided to try them . After around 5/6months of development work we had a speaker which was truly superior to any of my earlier speakers ML1 ! ML2 ! ML5 .
We were virtually compelled to manufacture this speaker until all the work caved in as Seas had decided to stop manufacturing the driver because of some Corrosive issues . Some new drivers were released which incorporated a Graphene coated cone which we immediately ordered for prototyping . Big problems arose initially with the Crossover design which slowed thing up significantly .
We were at nearly 2 years of design work here with over 1500 hours of dedicated design work. After consulting on various calls with the designer in Norway we were able to come up with a rather radical crossover circuit utilising only 2 reactive components and one resistive component in the signal path. The Magnesium Diaphragm breakup mode EQ circuit is however we feel quite innovative.
The enclosure is solid Hardwood in 18mm and 40mm thicknesses ! internal bracing is solid steel plating in various thicknesses (from 4mm to 8mm thick ) Cross Bracing is accomplished using Solid Cast Iron rod and Silicone filled Copper tubing . This results in the least enclosure energy storage we have ever measured or heard.
We are also including our latest 3HZ IsoForm Loudspeaker stands which weigh 35kgs each ( the speakers are also 35kgs each so 70 kg total per side )
Price is as follows Magnesium Limited Loudspeakers $14,500 per Pair 3HZ IsoForm Stands $2,500 per Pair . We are in full manufacturing process now so should have loudspeakers available for shipping within a matter of 4/6 weeks . I will attach a pic of the production prototypes. The website will also be updated with the new Loudspeaker soon .
You can contact me right here or by email at mike@lenehanaudio.com.au or simply ring me directly on 0418 765726. Regards Mike Lenehan
