  1. Why? Do you think the passive components add to the sound?
  2. With a total budget of 13k, I think you'd be crazy not to go active with custom speakers. The chance of any off the shelf loudspeakers suiting you and your room perfectly is highly unlikely, especially if you are trying to fix some room related lf issues. Something like the deqx or my personal favourite the Groundsound DCN28 would give you a very good preamp with active crossover and room correction. The DCN28 has 8 channels which would allow you to build an active 3 way, with 2 spare channels to implement multi subs. There's quite a bit of info out there regarding multiple randomly placed subwoofers and how they are probably the best way to get smooth bass response throughout a room. 13k and a dedicated room..... I honestly believe that a well implemented active multi sub diy effort would be better than any pair of commercial speakers at ANY price.
  3. I've got a 3 series in the shop now with a 2J!!! Let me know if I can help with anything. I'm in the process of building a TMWW 3-way myself, although not nearly as big as those.
  4. What are you planning with the 2J? I might be able to assist there....
  5. Hey Dan, how are they going? I just placed an order for some fr125's and am wondering how you like them with the open back. I haven't decided what I'm going to do for an enclosure yet.....
  6. Got my 4 SDX7's today delivered on time and in perfect condition. (Thanks Dan!!) Well, they look every bit as good as they do in the pics . Incredibly well built driver, especially considering the price. I'm going to build a translam floorstander so I have a bit of work ahead of me before I will get to hear them, but I hope to get into it soon.
  7. I have been searching for some time for suitable drivers to convert my Seas W15 MTM's into a MTMWW floorstander. I came across these: http://darcheraudio.com.au/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=81 They seem to fit the bill perfectly: work in small box, big xmax and power handling (I can EQ the bottom end if required), I can keep the baffle narrow and they have the looks to match the excel mags So has anyone used these yet? I have already ordered some from Darcher and will let you know how they go, but would like to hear from other users. On another note, it was a plesant surprise to find that these drivers are quite cheap to buy here in Aus. $129 seems like a bargain considering they retail for $100 USD...
  8. Excuse Me, but don't you think you should read his post a little closer? especially considering that you quoted it!!!
