  1. Radiohead are touring in November this year. Tickets on sale to the general public on 1st march through Ticketek (Ticketmaster). Will likely sell out in seconds with ticketmaster website crashing under the load and thousands of people punching their computer as per the norm with these high demand sales. There was an exclusive presale event this morning through Chugg entertainment for a very small number of tickets to different shows. You had to link through their facebook site. I managed to get 1 ticket to the 17th November show at Rod Laver despite the best efforts of the ticketmaster website to thwart me with the most difficult captcha in the history of the website. Scalpers are already flogging the tickets on ebay for A$700....

  3. It's on tonight! Can't wait. I gather most of the Eastern States shows sold out really fast.
  4. When we lost the grand prix to Melbourne? Yes.
  5. Album: Felicity Groom - Gossamer (Felicity's sound is kinda a bit like Sarah Blasko meets early PJ Harvey with a hint of a dark ballad Nick Cave edge), but she does a few more pop friendly songs as well 0C7GL8yEUh4&feature=related pU7QyBDk_qk&feature=related Beirut - The Rip Tide (not a single filler track on this)

  7. I think I heard the CD-777 when I visited Cameron last, hooked up to Uno Nano's. I recall it had a remote that was practically a solid tungsten ingot in weight

  9. Just bumping this thread - tickets now on sale. I logged in 1 minute after they started selling and got third row from the front at the Perth show. Pretty happy with that.
  10. It's not clear to me. Does the vinyl box set version contain the remastered version?
  11. Thought this will probably interest a few people and I suspect tickets will sell fast. " Fresh from her Mercury Prize win, PJ Harvey has revealed she will be touring Australia in early 2012. Joined by a band made up of Mick Harvey, John Parish and Jean Marc Butty, PJ will play a handful of theatre dates to show off her impressive back catalogue and new album Let England Shake. The NSW dates coincide with the Sydney Festival which is yet to reveal its full line up. Here are all the dates: Fri 13 Jan | Concert Hall, Perth, WA Sun 15 Jan | Regent Theatre, Melbourne, VIC* Wed 18 Jan | State Theatre, Sydney, NSW Thu 19 Jan | State Theatre, Sydney, NSW Sat 21 Jan | Princes Wharf One, Hobart, TAS *All Ages All tickets on sale Monday 17 October."
  12. I've only got the cd and the audio quality is very good. So I suspect the vinyl could be reference quality.
  13. Couple of new albums I picked up in the last week Easily the most accomplished Beirut album yet particularly in the melodies and vocals. Hopefully it will gain them a lot of new fans as it deserves too. ub_m2iGf0xc WzORRh6lzg4&feature=related And Stephen Malkmus' latest 0EaIwUbxyfQ&feature=related ti3PoaZLDXg Oh, Beck actually produced this album http://www.clashmusic.com/feature/reflected-glory-stephen-malkmus

  17. The whole tradition/culture of washi/origami/handicrafts that japan has kinda filters through into quite a few of the modern consumer industries in both the presentation and design aesthetics. I think the Japanese labels recognise their primary target audience (Japanese audiophiles) are pretty discerning consumers, something the Western labels have kinda ignored a bit untill the mp3 thing made them refocus a bit on that area. If you've ever been to any of the big department stores over there (particularly the high end ones) you'll understand how that concept of high quality presentation is pretty much ingrained into the way they try to attract customers.
  18. Are the covers any good though? I have an album where artists covered songs from the "The Wall" (I think also this was a Mojo magazine thing) and it was so forgettable I could barely get through it once... Admittedly "The Wall" is a very distinct album so not sure if it was a good idea to try and cover in the first place...

  22. Thanks for sharing. I thought I might see Cameron appear in the photos on your delivery day. Quite a few guys on Audiogon seem to have the Tom Evans gear with their Advantgarde setups.
  23. What size room do you have. Everything I've read about MBLs and other omnidirectional speakers suggests decent sized rooms and flexibility in location are pretty crucial to getting the best out of them even if by their nature the sweet spot is wider. Also if you get the MBLs what amp would you use (with the sensitivity of them what they are) it will guide you into certain amp requirements (a decent amount of power probably the most critical). If he is NSW and you are as well, it would be a no-brainer to go listen to them though.
  24. The multichannel track on the SACD is also one of the rare SACD where the multi channel is done well.
  25. The double doors were really part of the design to get the plans pass council in line with the lighting and energy efficiency requirements as they have clear glass. There is nothing however stopping me from modifying the doorway after construction when I don't need specific council approval. With the construction of the internal room within the larger room this is the type of construction I'm considering. Part of the reason for the overall size of the room is it gives me the option to do it. http://www.ortech.com.au/systems/wallsystem.html HVAC definitely a consideration, will need to be implemented properly when I choose a firm to fit an air-con system. There's also a whirlbird thing to the ceiling that I'll have to deal with as it was part of the ventilation requirements. Will consider Dyanlite, not commited to CBus. All the lighting power supply is in conduit so it can be done after handover I guess as that's what I was doing with c-bus. Probably go for 2 subs - no choice made as I only have a smallish Rel sub at present. Speakers will actually be firing down the length of the room - so doorway at rear right corner of the room. Thanks for the comments, will look into the acoustically transparent screen material you mention
