  1. Item: PS Audio Perfectwave Transport (110V) and Perfectwave Dac Mark 1 (240V) Location: Canberra, ACT Price: $1600 for the two combined, and if required postage and PayPal fees Item Condition: Used Reason for selling: Upgraded last year to the Directstream DAC and player, so these aren't being used and I want to make room for new gear! Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I purchased this Perfectwave DAC Mk1 (240V) new in 2011 and have been the sole owner. It's never missed a beat. While used cosmetically its in very good condition, with the removable plastic still in place covering the gloss black top plate, no visible marks on the casework, and the screen is clear and bright. Last year I got a really good combined deal on a new Directstream DAC and Player, so I went down that pathway instead of upgrading this one. Should you wish, PS Audio sell an upgrade kit to convert this sonically to a Directstream DAC for about $4000. I understand that the only differences then between an upgraded model and a brand new Directstream DAC is the IR port, which was also upgraded and becomes a round one not rectangular, and the absence of "Directstream" marking on the front casework. This DAC has the Bridge Mark 1 installed, but I've never used it, instead preferring a direct USB connection to a ROON Nucleus + for streaming. I purchased the Perfectwave Player used in 2012, using Audiogon, from the US, hence its a 110v model that requires a transformer, which is included. I've never had a problem with this arrangement, doesn't make any noise or cause any issue, but it may not suit everyone. When I received the player I soon found it would not read all discs (buyer beware!), and as a consequence I had a new DVD drive installed and its been super reliable ever since. Cosmetically the plastic cover was removed from the gloss black top plate, and there is some smudging of the gloss finish which I can't capture in photos. There are no scratches or marks to the casework. The "blue" colour of the power button is darker on the Transport, which can be seen in the photos. I assume this was just product variation. I've recently plugged this combo back into my system just to verify that everything works as it should. In comparison the newer Directstream Player and DAC are just more musically revealing and engaging, but of course they are also much more expensive. I'm very happy to demo to any locals who may be interested. The Remote control is of course included. I have the original double boxes for transportation. I would prefer local pickup, but not a problem to post. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  2. Item: Arcam FMJ C31 Pre Amplifier Location: Canberra Price: $450 ono plus postage of about $38-50 depending on where you are Item Condition: Used Reason for selling: Not being used since I upgraded to the PS Audio BHK Pre Amp, so time to move it on to someone who will appreciate it. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: I've had this Arcam C31 Pre Amp for a few years of good service, and replaced it last year with the PS Audio BHK Pre Amp to match my other PS Audio Directstream DAC, player, and Power Plant. So its time to move it on to a good home. This model had a long life with Arcam, and was discontinued in favour of the Arcam C49. This C31 functions perfectly, with a good number of RCA input connections, but no digital inputs, you would need a separate DAC to cater for digital inputs. There are both RCA and XLR outputs. There are a few marks on the casework that I have shown in the photos - a mark near the headphone jack being the most visible where the headphone plug has repeatedly brushed the casework. In my opinion the PS Audio BHK Pre Amp is more resolving of musical detail, but of course its costs a lot more. The Arcam FMJ gear is very solid, and this is no exception. The volume control is well balanced and responsive, in fact a pleasure to use. The display is bright and clear. The optional phono card has NOT been installed, I've always used an external phono preamp. It comes with the remote, but no original boxes so I will pack carefully in generic packaging should shipping be required. From the Arcam website at https://www.arcam.co.uk/products,c31.htm: The C31 is a superbly transparent music preamplifier and provides a level of performance and flexibility that will delight even the most demanding music enthusiast. With nearly 30 years experience in high fidelity audio design, Arcam has gained a world-class reputation for audio performance. The new FMJ C31 pre amplifier represents the pinnacle of Arcam’s achievements in stereo playback systems. When partnered with the FMJ P1 monobloc power amplifiers, it represents the very best of Arcam’s quest for ultra-high quality music playback and delivers a wonderfully faithful reproduction of even the most demanding source material. The design of the C31 features a simple, accurate and clean signal path. The reed relay input switching dispenses with the compromises of mechanical or conventional relay designs, resulting in switching with immeasurable noise and distortion. The studio grade electronic volume controls deliver precision variation of volume level whilst maintaining the subtle nuances of the music and delivering long-term reliabilityConnections are designed to be flexible with conventional unbalanced (for direct connection to power amplifiers and the purest fidelity), buffered unbalanced (for longer cable runs) and balanced output connections for use in electrically noisy environments. Inputs are wide ranging and include five line level inputs, two independent tape loops and an optional single stage MM/MC phono input . Pre-amplifier section All new audiophile pre-amplifier design with very low noise and distortion Very short audio signal path for cleanest possible sound No tone controls for lowest distortion and noise DC coupled using servo to remove any DC from input signals New improved Burr Brown volume control High quality Burr Brown op-amps in signal path Hermetically sealed reed relay input switching with immeasurable distortion and noise* Four-layer printed circuit boards allow control of power supply reduction of electrical noise Processor mode option for seamless integration with AV surround decoders Audiophile grade Stargate and Rubicon capacitors for signal transparency Optional single stage MM/MC phono preamp * Note:- Because the contacts in reed relays are hermetically sealed, they can switch low-level signals as low as fempto amps and nano volts. Electromechanical relays cannot do this because they are not hermetically sealed and have polymer films build up on their contacts that require a voltage arc to break through this layer before conduction can take place. Similarly, semiconductors have capacitance, leakage currents and semiconductor offsets to deal with that introduce distortion and limit the switching and detection of low voltages and currents. Also, the reed relay has no moving parts and therefore, under signal conditions will switch greater than 50 million operations fault free. Electromecanical relays can at best switch up to the low millions of operations. Because its armature moves about a pivot point, wearing occurs, reducing life. 3. Item: Plinius SA201 Stereo Power Amplifier Location: Canberra, ACT Price: $1200 Item Condition: Used Reason for selling: Have upgraded my power amplifier to mono blocks and need to save space, and keep the peace at home. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: For sale is my well cared for Plinius SA201 stereo power amplifier in the silver finish. I have been the first owner since circa 2006. I can't see any noticeable scratches or marks, so the curvaceous casework has stood up well over time. But alas I have felt the need to upgrade after many years good service, and when the opportunity arose I purchased a pair of mono blocks. This amp is rated at 225 watts per channel into 8 ohms. Both channels driven from 20Hz to 20kHz at less than 0.2% total harmonic distortion. Current Output: 40A short duration per module. Fuse protected. Hum and Noise: 90dB below rated output 20Hz to 20kHz unweighted. Gain: 32dB. Input Impedance: 47k ohms Dimensions: Height 170mm, Width 445mm, Depth 453mm, Weight 25kg Here's one review to give a general feel for the amp: https://www.dagogo.com/plinius-tautoro-preamplifier-sa-201-stereo-power-amplifier-review/ I've been using this amp with PS Audio products - the Directstream player, DAC and the BHK preamp. You could describe the sounds as smooth and coherent. Spatial performance is excellent with an expansive soundstage. There is plenty of detail, presented in natural fashion without being in your face. I have the original Plinius double-box packaging for transportation. The amp weighs 25kg so local pickup is preferred. Photos: Advertisements without photos of the actual item will not be approved.
  4. Lovely Class D monoblocks that have been well regarded by Stereophile and The Absolute Sound. Offer sent.
  5. I have both this Perfectwave DAC and their Directstream. These are terrific DACs, very upgradeable as you need, and with the versatility of having preamp functionality if required. PS Audio support for their products and the pursuit of hi fi audio is excellent. GLWTS!
