  1. Hi John, I felt that the picture looked cleaner with the HD-SDI over the HDMI. The blacks seemed deeper and more consistent, and the colour gradations seemed cleaner and less of a posterisation felt, not that there was much to begin with. This could be down to the way the MPEG decoder worked on the HD-DVD player and not necessarily that the signal was better. Those that I spoke to at the time who had players modified for HD-SDI output all concurred with my observations. I'd assume that things are much better these days with decoding of Blu-rays (That HD-DVD player was 1st generation). I doubt I would bother modifying any future BD players for HD-SDI output, unless I needed to use an extra long cable run for some reason. The VP50 Pro is still up for sale. I am considering putting it on eBay soon.
  2. I have my Toshiba XA1 modified for HD-SDI output
  3. It has been 2 months since last placing an order from Amazon. It's my birthday soon so as a present to myself I just ordered 50 more blu-rays... I need help!
  4. Well these are the 2 features I like the most, plus the nice interface plugin for MCE.
  5. Personally I just scan in each individual movie within the box set, and if they don't have barcodes I'll do individual title searches for each one. This way the movie count is accurate. Why do you need to regroup them as a boxset? I haven't tried to do this before. Is it because you want things kept in a certain order in your list? ie. all movies in the boxset grouped together? If so, you can edit the way titles are sorted, right click movie > edit movie > title sort field
  6. The only reason I kep the VP50Pro was that it supported 1080p72 and the Radiance XD did not. Now that the XE+ supports 1080p72, I am upgrading my XD and no longer need the VP50Pro.
  7. Selling my Dvdo VP50 Pro. Asking for $1,750 plus shipping I also have the dual HD-SDI input module available. Asking for $400 plus shipping ps. I have been out of the loop on market value and demand for these things, so if someone could let me know if my asking prices are reasonable. I did a quick search on the net and could only find these for 2-3x my asking price.
  8. I'm looking to sell my dvdo VP50 Pro ... $1,750 plus delivery. I have the dual HD-SDI input module available also ... $400 plus delivery Reason I'm selling, no longer needed. Was previously used for 1080p72 which the Radiance was not capable of. I am now upgrading my Radiance XD to a Radiance XE+ which supports this. (rrp US$5495)
  9. Hi Victor. I would very seriously consider contacting him when I'm ready to refurbish the house, or buy my second house. Unfortunately this would not be feasible in the next 10 years, so hopefully he is still around then. The other guy I would contact would be Peter at Cineramax. Not much has changed with the HT, same modded projectors and aslan speakers. I've only been upgrading video processors, blu-ray players etc... I have now got a smaller HT room so have had to downsize my screen to a Stewart 120" x 50" but it actually feels larger than my 168" x 70" screen because it occupies the whole front wall. Some pics to be uploaded soon.
  10. http://www.soundandvisionmag.com/features/...me-theater.html Really interesting article, you may enjoy it too.
  11. I'm pretty certain all recent 3D movies are approx 16:9 aspect. I think the tech doesn't play nice with cinemascope viewing angles.
  12. So how's it best to experience Avatar in 3D? IMAX, VMAX, Gold Class? Living in far north QLD, we don't have any of the above options, which would you recommend for best experience where cost is not a factor?
  13. So even though I have a Gold LIVE account, and multiple xbox360's, only one of them can be used to play paid for DLC? Am i to understand that I can still play the same DLC on another xbox360 so long as that console is connected to LIVE with the same LIVE account? So if that's the case, the only downside is that they cannot be played offline?
  14. Well, what are your costs for shipping the hardware modded ones to Australia? If I did that, I would chose nothing less than courier with insurance. I'd guess that to be at least US$150. So now you're at US$650+150= US$800. The AU$850 I paid which is only 4 months old with local warranty doesn't seem so bad a buy to me.
  15. Just for completeness, thought I would say that the sale with eyesofra went smoothly. Thanks for a great player at a great price!
  16. Awesome... thanks jayweb! Will be sure to pick up the data migration kit this month.
  17. I'm thinking about buying a 250GB Xbox360 but am wondering will this mean re-downloading and re-installing all the content I have on my 120GB Elite, or is there some device or cable or other way to copy contents directly across.
  18. I accidentally made a double order on US Amazon for Snatch. I'll be receiving it this week. If anyone wants this sealed region A title, it will be available for $25 including registered shipping. - SALE PENDING -
  19. I think when he said ordinary PCM, he was using ordinary to mean average, common, regular, not distinctive, everyday, mediocre etc...
  20. I'd say Multi PCM should definitely be superior to a lossy DD or DTS track
  21. Have not seen them yet, bet they're getting pretty close to 9" CRT by now though. The only thing I'd consider to replace my CRT blend would be the Sim2 Lumis, but be prepared to drop $40K for the pleasure. I still have nine 9" lugs to get through, each with less than 200 hours on the clock... how long do these CRT tubes run for again? 10,000 hours? The AE4000 is a feature rich pj at a budget price, I'm thinking of getting one for the parents now! I've been very happy with this purchase.
  22. I'll try and get around to putting a youtube video of it in action, I have been massively impressed with the interface in MCE that guests can use to browse my collection. Combine it with the 24" touch screen monitor I just picked up and it's fantastic!
  23. No comparison, but hey, what do you expect? This projector only costs as much as 2 9" tubes. For convenience sake and portability it's a godsend. Brightness I'd say is on par with my blended 9" setup, but the tubes are still new. Would be brighter than a single 9" crt pj though. As far as digitals, the image does have a softer look and so would suit those who like that look coming from CRT so no complaints about things looking unnaturally sharp or pixelated.
