Robert Iger's rein as CEO of Disney is a absolute disaster in every conceivable way.
He is running Disney like Henry Ford ran his car company, which is a disaster for a company that whole existence relies on a huge amount of very creative people to make what it is selling.
The stance of Robert Iger on the importance of script writers, and it would also seem actors, judging by his comments and stance on the writers strike, appears to be that they are of little importance, and ultimately disposable.
He undoubtedly has a long term plan to replace both with A.I.
Things were already bad within Disney when they started making movies with No Script,[ The Pirates of the Caribbean movies suffered from this] they were written as they were shooting.
It would appear that the Iger's plan for Disney is to rely on and have as it's backbone, both the Marvel and Star Wars franchises, both which have been flogged to death, and producing and even worse cookie cutter copy of the previous movie, and both failing badly because of it, especially the latest few Marvel movies at the box office .
None of these movies stir any emotions from the viewer, so they are all instantly forgettable.
[The new Aquaman movie is apparently even worse than the first, which I found hard to believe possible as the first was a stinker , I mean even the trailer shows how bad it is if you have seen it, when Black Manta reappears and claims he is going to burn Aquamans realm to the ground.....hey genius, how are you going to do that if he lives underwater ?.....Total rubbish and a insult to even the dumbest American movie goer who will watch any crap. ]
With little more than ever more dismal Marvel dross and flogged to death Star Wars, Iger expects people to sign up to Disney+ in droves.
He is aiming Disney+ for a young and totally undiscerning audience in a very narrow age group.
The vast core of that age limited customer base, is probably not pay for streaming Disney+, the parents are the ones paying for it, and when the parents start realizing, en masse, that the content on Disney+ is entirely made up of a load of crap, they will cancel the subscription, as it seems is already happening, the same goes for Netflix, who have also found themselves on very shaky financial grounds because of their recent subpar content offerings.
IMHO all Iger is doing by removing Disc sales is turning people back to illegal downloading of the least crappy of the latest Disney+ content, which there is very little.
It's certainly not making a Disney + subscription any more appealing.
