  1. Another very happy Eversolo DMP-A6 owner here.

I bought mine at the HiFi show a few weeks ago, I'd been eyeing it off for a couple of weeks prior when I first became aware of it after watching a Youtube review (and many others after that initial one)

I had bought a Bluesound Node N130 at last years show, and while it was great to finally be able to play my spotify songs on my system, it was hamstrung by poor WiFi performance in my particular situation.

My network router is at one end of the house and my system is at the other end of the house, and while I have a WiFi extender in the same room as the system the Node was not able to keep a stable connection when trying to play music from Tidal.
It was OK with Spotify, but the higher bandwidth of Tidal just had it constantly buffering and it just wasn't workable.

The Eversolo with it's 3 dedicated external antennas for WiFi etc made me optimistic that it would be better able to connect to my network and have the stability to stream from the higher res services.

The glowing reviews won me over as did its looks and functionality (and those sexy VU meters ... lol)
So that was it ... my mind was made up and I had to have one.

So as soon as I got to the show on the Friday morning I made a B-Line to room 1314 and picked myself up a Master Edition.

To say I'm happy with it is an understatement.
As I had hoped, it connected seamlessly to my WiFi network and is happily streaming hi-res from Qobuz like a champion.

I'm a pretty basic user so a streamer/DAC/Preamp combo all in one unit is perfect for me, the sound is fantastic and puts the biggest smile on my face as I explore a whole new world of music now available to me.

Now the HiFi show is done and dusted, and many have given their thoughts, let's hear who did the following......

    1. Bought something at the show that they simply had to have, on the day.
    2. Bought something they had their eye on beforehand, and have now put in an order.
    3. Saw/Heard something they are now genuinely following up on with the Retailer.
    4. Are now convinced an Item is a must have and are genuinely saving for or working hard to convince the Partner it will be life affirming.
    5. Thought they wanted something, but upon hearing it, changed their mind (The item doesn't need to be named)

I don't fit into any of the criteria in 2023, but at a past Show, I was blown away by the Kii 3's and made an appointment with Rom to have a private listen at Sonic Purity.    I subsequently bought a 2nd hand pair from him.

The Show is a great experience, but how many of us are merely Tyre kickers and how many dip into the 'sky rocket' to make it worthwhile for the retailers.

    Regards Cazzesman

    Option # 1 for me ... 🙂

I agree, and this has had surprisingly little discussion, to my knowledge. Since joking about putting them up as surround speakers once, I've often wondered about how to measure them in free air - and the tractor's the only way I can think of, but I'm really not up to that right now, however appealing the concept is.

I feel this thread should not be swamped with miscellaneous adventures unrelated to Hugh's project, or at least the Faital 3WC-15 design in particular.

See @Sierra's "Another Troels Gravesen's DTQWT Project Build" thread as an example: from memory, I'm guilty as the initial perpetrator of its becoming a general repository for anything DTQWT-related, despite his extraordinary generosity and encouragement.

I'd like to see more reporting of Hugh's comparisons and tweaks, as they unfold, all in good time - nails getting short here, Hugh...

Hey Brian - Yes it had become quite the repository for DTQWT information.

I don’t consider B.O.C. metal, never have, never will. Melodic hard rock is about right.

I’ve collected these guys since they started. This is the Bluray of their 45th anniversary concert recorded in London, June 2017.

Buck Dharma and Eric Bloom are the surviving members, but he other three members fit in wonderfully. All concert films should be like this. Well lit, long shots, no rapid cutting. Sound in stereo or multi is top notch.
Tracks include a wish list, some classics taken at a slower pace.

This comes with my highest recommendation.

    @Sierra, you will love this.

Cheers for the heads up @Anatoly Beaver-Hausen ... Looks like I'll be adding to my BOC collection!!

Thanks @Sierra  I did power it up again with a replacement tube for 5 minutes and it was working but after the advice received here I took it out of rotation pending a check up. The previous owner also replaced a resistor apparently. Speculation of course, but is it relatively common for those things to fry? It may be a simple fix (just want a heads up so I don't get fleeced on repairs).

That rings alarm bells if the previous owner also replaced a blown resistor.
All the more reason to get it checked out as there could be an underlying issue causing resistors to fry.
No ... it shouldn't be common for anything to fry.

If smoke appeared from any piece of gear, I wouldn't even power it up til it had been checked over properly and diagnosed/repaired.

Exactly right as @Grizzly and others have said.

Something has fried (probably a biasing resistor) and the amp needs to be checked otherwise more damage could be done.

I am after 2 Eminence Deltalite II 2512s for the Mk111 kit build but all the Australian suppliers are out of stock. Does anyone know a good supplier overseas that will ship to Australia?

I bought my Deltalite's from US Speaker.

They do not ship to Australia so I had to use an on-forwarder ... pretty painless experience.

  8. Hey @BioBrian ... Yes mate they are still going well.

If I really like something I tend to hang onto it ... and these for me are a keeper.

Both the timbers have darkened over time ... the Jarrah doesn't quite have the redness that it originally had and the Tassie Oak has shifted to a more yellowish hue.
The Tassie Oak veneer has changed in the same way as the solid timber on the front baffle so they blend nicely and look coherent.

A slightly better pic of the color change below.

And considering they sit in the lounge room where it gets full sun in the afternoons (not direct) they have held up very well.

Shame about your myrtle fading though.
