  1. Tom Middleton - Isolated Mix 100 -- the 100th mix from A Strangely Isolated Place, compiled by Tom Middleton from Global Communication, Reload, Jedi Knights, etc. And what a mix it is, chockers with the electronic heavy hitters: Jean-Michel Jarre, Tomita, Vangelis, Sigur Rós, Underworld, Eno, Steve Roach, lowercase noises, The Orb, Boards Of Canada, Aphex Twin, Ralf & Florian, etc. Three and a half hours worth of choice cuts. Free 320kbps MP3 download. --Geoff
  2. The Flashbulb - Our Simulacra -- an interesting mix of glitchy electronics, vocoders, and jazz. Kinda like a funkier Daft Punk. US$1 for the lossless download at Bandcamp. --Geoff
  3. Gretchen's Wheels - Black Box Theory -- Nashville gal wot peddles similar power-pop to Matthew Sweet: lots of melodies and harmonies and jangles. There's even a Matthew Sweet cover included (of course). "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff

  8. If I was starting again I’d get a Samsung S6 lite, or a Samsung S5e if available. The iPad Air is okay, and Garage Band is fun, but I prefer the Android ecosystem. —Geoff
  9. Autumn Of Communion - Broken Apart By Moonlight -- 5 x 20 min tracks with that 90s sound of acid, IDM, and ambient. Noice. €2 for the lossless download from Bandcamp (for a coupla days). --Geoff
  10. Retro 97 Mix -- a 3 hour mix chockers with 90s electronic artists. Takes about 20 minutes to kick into first gear when The Irresistible Force makes an appearance, but after that it's Autechre, Higher Intelligence Agency, Speedy J, Sun Electric, Bola, FSOL, Reload, Sabres Of Paradise, Plaid, Boards Of Canada, Wagon Christ, etc. So many memories. Free MP3 download from Headphone Commute. --Geoff
  11. Mono - Gone: A Collection of EPs 2000-2007 -- compilation of various early EPs from Japanese post-rock outfit Mono. A bit less polished than later releases, but still it's Mono, innit? I recall many years ago in the USA I found a copy of this on vinyl for $1, a bit beat up so nice to have on digitimal now. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp for today only. --Geoff
  12. Lubberly track -- I have it on a CD called Excursions In Ambience Vol.2 - The Second Orbit. It also features Material (remixed by The Orb), and one of my favourite tracks: Locust - No One In The World: (obviously I'm a sucker for filtered gated chords and Karen Carpenter samples) --Geoff
  13. Noice. I got the CD back in the day, and still give it a listen quite regularly. I see that Pentamerous Metamorphosis is also available on the vinyls. A worthy companion to 76:14. It was originally a limited edition CD that commanded high prices, and after trying for ages to score a copy I decided one day to email the record company (Dedicated) and asked if they had any available, and they sent me a CD for nowt 😉 Always worth trying yer luck. --Geoff
  14. Vintage Cucumber - San Tropico -- motorik psych rock with some good grooves and drumming. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff

  17. Various Artists - Elektronische Meditationen -- a new compilation by interesting contemporary composer Marco Lucchi, where each track seems to be a variation / remix of the first piece. There's 61 tracks in total, or almost 7 hours worth, to digest, ranging from modern classical to ambient to experimental. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
  18. Tangents - New Bodies -- Aussie outfit peddling a kinda Tortoise sound. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp for today. --Geoff
  19. Telegraph - Mir -- prog band from Israel, with a concept album about a stranded Russian cosmonaut (apparently). Sounds kinda Floyd/Camel. Noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
  20. I wanted a tablet for lazing on the couch so today I bought an iPad Air, as the many reviews I read mentioned that "the best tablet experience" can be found on iPads vs the Android tablets. Installing my two favourite apps (Bandcamp and Instagram) and both are basically lower-res smartphone apps that don't display full screen. I assume this means the app developers (for some reason) don't know how to display stuff in the iPad's native resolution. Pffft. The Bandcamp app is further hobbled by not allowing purchases. Assuming this is something to do with Apple taking a cut of any in-app purchases. Anyway ... I don't think I'm getting "the best tablet experience" from these apps. I'm considering exchanging the iPad for a Samsung S6 Lite or similar. I'm assuming that these apps on Android will display full-screen but want to confirm that so lemme know if you have experienced similar issues on Android tablets. --Geoff
  21. Underworld - RicksDubbedOutDriftExperience (Live in Amsterdam) -- 70 minutes of live Underworld. Not the big hits but a continuous mix of bits-n-pieces from the Drift series. Noice. Three quid for the lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
  22. Youth & Gaudi - Astronout Alchemists -- deep dance dub from Youth. Streaming via the tidals. Vinyl seems pretty cheap on Amazon if that's yer thang. --Geoff
  23. Francis M. Gri - Boke -- enjoying this album on headphones today. Pads with crackles, sound effects, ghostly snippets of guitar and piano, etc. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
  24. Mono & World's End Girlfriend - Palmless Prayer / Mass Murder Refrain -- post-rockers Mono team up with a composer and get their neoclassical on. An imaginary soundtrack, apparently, rich with strings and haunting vocals and the obligatory noisy crescendos. Very noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp for today only. --Geoff
  25. Memory Drawings - Music For Another Loss -- another album from a band that uses hammered dulcimer, strings, and piano. Also has some remixes and vocal versions. Noice. "Name Yer Price" lossless download from Bandcamp. --Geoff
