Item Condition: ExcellentShipping Options: Pickup available but audition is not available.Suburb or Town: Wynnum, BrisbaneState: QLDPayment Method: EFT, Cash on PickupReason for selling: Don't have a MC preamp
Further Information:
Dynavector 30C MC cart. Have owned this for a few years but have never been able to use it s as I don't have MC preamp. I am happy with my MM carts and don't have the funds to start messing around with MC as well.
Paid $200 to have the cart inspected, tested and contacts cleaned by Steve Leung at VAS Audio, USA. It is working beautifully and I have a video from VAS Audio of it in action.
From my research it is the best of the 30 series first introduced in 1978 and features a boron cantilever.
May consider shipping (no promises), as I am very reluctant due to transit risk.

If you lift remove the platter, the serial number should be printed on a label under it
Serial number is 11717 which dates it somewhere between 1974 and 1977.

Item Condition: Excellent. Some general light scuffs to lid consistent with age.Shipping Options: Pickup available and you can audition.Suburb or Town: Wynnum West, BrisbaneState: QLDPayment Method: Cash on pick up, EFT, Paypal with extra to cover fees.Reason for selling: Not used due to wooden floor movement.
Further Information:
Features SME 3009 tonearm and Ortofon 2M Red cart with new spare stylus. Bought this a few years ago from an acquaintance but have only used it once or twice as the vibration from my wooden floors are not great with it.
Previous owner had it serviced and set up and I have since re-checked cart alignment and spring stability and it's still good.
I can audition but is not an ideal listening environment given the floor movement issue noted above.

Linn Sondek LP12 turntable. Fine example. Working well. Cosmetically 9/10.
SME 3009 tonearm and Ortofon 2M Red cart with new spare stylus.
Background: I bought this at least 5 years ago but have only used it once as it didn't go well on my shaky wooden floors so have stuck with direct-drive, which handles the floors a little better.
The gent I purchased it from told me it was serviced and set-up by a local hi-fi store (unknown).
It runs well and sounds great.

With the old aging caps it may have had a more bloated bass that would have subjectively seemed like more bass.
Spot on.

I had a Vincent SV-236 only a couple of years old that had the toroidal transformer go up in smoke. Now that's a power supply problem.

I've re-capped countless amplifiers. Sometimes there is a marked difference in before/after sound and usually for the better if replacing tired and out of spec old caps. Different cap brands/types can sound better or worse in different amps. Using good quality audio caps is recommended over cheap general purpose caps, some of which can sound ghastly. Personal perception and sound preference is a key factor. My ears tell me that only a few minutes are usually needed to run in new caps if running-in is a credible thing. IMO extended burn-in is in the realms of audiofoolery and more about user perception.

Further Information:
This AKAI AA-5210DB from circa 1975 has been comprehensively restored.
I performed the restoration around a year ago for a friend and am selling on his behalf as he is downsizing to move house.
The ‘DB’ in 5210DB refers to Dolby. The Dolby variant is hard to find and of great benefit when recording to Reel to Reel tape.
Sweet sounding phono stage including original styrol caps.
Solid build quality and great soundstage with the new components.
All electrolytic capacitors replaced with quality audio type including Elna Silmic II, Nichicon Fine Gold and UKL Low Leakage – Power Supply board, EQ board, tone board, and Dolby NR board.
All circuit boards re-soldered and de-fluxed
Most transistors replaced and gain matched focusing on failure-prone, noisy type – 2SC458, 2SC1313, 2SA725.
Main filter capacitor upgraded from 2200uF to 3300uF capacity to improve power transient handling and bass extension.
Replaced/upgraded all 8 rectifier diodes in power supply.
New X2 safety suppression caps on mains switch.
New AS safety compliant plugtop with insulated pins.
A notable feature on this amp is the separable amp/preamp via removable bridging pins, allowing it to be used as a stand-alone preamp or main amp.
Speaker terminals are 2 pin Din type and pre-made cables and a spare set of plugs are supplied.KEY SPECS:
Output: 15W per channel into 8 Ohms (conservative – these amps are very capable for their size and push out well above their paper specs)
Drives 4 Ohm to 8 Ohm speaker loads.
Frequency response: 20Hz to 50kHz
Weight: 7.2kg

I have restored a few vintage amplifiers bought from Japan. They were supposedly serviced and restored, but appeared to have had just a basic service and none of the catch-up maintenance these amps need to address known issues with ageing components.
So I'd say be wary of any claims of 'restored' equipment and look deeper into what has actually been done to the amp as you will probably need to invest more money getting the amp properly checked over when you receive it.

Further information:
Have decided to downsize my vintage amp collection as some do not get used as much as I’d like. I’m mostly a Sansui nut and am particular about restoring my vintage amps to a high standard using quality components and spend too many hours doing it, but I find it therapeutic and rewarding in many ways. Vintage amps need proper restoration to revive their sound quality and contrary to popular myth, do not just keep on going. Components have use-by dates and this affects sound quality and reliability.
These amps can sell for around $500 in working, un-restored condition so this one represents outstanding value.
This AU-3900 has had the following work done:
- Replacement of electrolytic capacitors with audio grade caps, mainly Nichicon Fine Gold and UKL.
- Replacement of all known problem transistors, particularly on tone-board.
- Case powdercoated black.
- Circuit boards completely re-soldered and de-fluxed.
- Voltages re-set as per service manual.
Relay contacts cleaned.
Whoever ends up owning this amp should be very happy.
Donation to Stereonet upon successful sale.

This hard to find hi fi preamp/power amp combo from 1981 was Optonica’s flagship pair in the range and has excellent build quality.
