TRINNOV JOINS IMAX ENHANCED AND ANNOUNCES DTS:X PRO

The emerging leader in AV processing for high-end home cinemas and commercial application, Trinnov Audio, has announced two new technologies for 2019.

The big news in 2018 was the introduction of the IMAX Enhanced format, a certification and licensing program between IMAX and DTS products capable of playback of digitally remastered 4K HDR content with enhanced DTS audio.

Trinnov has today announced that its Altitude 32 and the Altitude 16 AV Preamps/Processors would support IMAX Enhanced via a free software update in the second half of 2019.

Arnaud Laborie, Trinnov’s co-founder, and CEO told StereoNET:

Trinnov has always been fully committed to performance and durability. We recently announced the warranty of our High-End products would be extended, retroactively, to 5 years. To further fulfil this commitment, we will continue to implement the latest technologies and are extremely proud to integrate IMAX ® Enhanced, continuing the collaboration we started with DTS when implementing DTS-X,

Trinnov joins other manufacturers that have already embraced IMAX Enhanced including Arcam, Sony, Denon and Marantz.

Also announced today, Trinnov Audio will be the first manufacturer to support the new DTS:X Pro format in the home.

DTS:X Pro Trinnov Audio

The DTS:X immersive object-oriented audio format for high-end commercial cinemas allows up to 60 uniquely-rendered channels, but in its residential format, until now has been limited to 11.1 channels. According to Trinnov Audio:

Typically, this meant seven “bed” channels at listener level, an LFE channel, and four upper channels above the listening area.

Trinnov's Altitude range of processors will be the first to offer DTS:X Pro to the residential market, with the Altitude 32 supporting up to 32 uniquely-rendered DTS:X Pro channels. It remains the only surround processor capable of rendering more than 12-16 uniquely-rendered channels, allowing for greatly increased spatial resolution and realism.

Joanna Skrdlant, GM of Home Audio & Solutions Licensing at DTS added:

The flexibility and power of Trinnov’s platform and their dedication to a premium home theater experience for their customers is why DTS partners with Trinnov for the DTS :X decoder technology portfolio,

A free software update will enable Altitude processors to be compatible with DTS:X Pro later this year.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
