SOUND & VISION Festival - Quad

What can you expect to see from Quad at the upcoming SOUND & VISION Festival at AudioTrends, Melbourne May 29th - 31st?

In STUDIO 1 of the Sound & Vision Festival, QUAD will demonstrate some of its newest and best known products.

Quad was the first company to develop and market an electrostatic speaker, the ESL57. That speaker is still regarded as one of the most important speaker products of the 20th century, and as a result the ESL Series has become the world’s most famous and respected electrostatic speaker.

Its latest model; the ESL2912, is synonymous with Quad’s slogan “The closest approach to the original sound”.

In keeping with this ethos the latest incarnation of Quad’s famous ESL design is simply something that must be experienced by any true audiophile.

At the heart of the system in Studio 1 will be the Quad ESL2912 electrostatic speakers, driven by Quad’s famous II-Eighty mono-block valve amplifiers, and Platinum Reference Pre-Amplifier.

Connections throughout the system need to be of the same calibre as the electronics, which end this system will be using QED Signature series interconnects and speaker cable, including the new Signature Audio 40 cryogenically treated interconnects.

Along with the reference system Quad will also be unveiling its latest traditional speaker design, the S Series in which for the first time ever, Quad makes use of a Ribbon Tweeter in its speakers. The model to be auditioned in Studio 1 at the Sound & Vision Festival will be the flagship floor standing model, the S-5 which will be powered by Quad Elite Series Electronics.

Connecting the system will be the award winning QED Reference Audio 40 interconnects and XT-40 speaker cable (voted speaker cable of the year in the What Hi Fi 2014 Awards).

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
