Renew SleepClock from GEAR4
The Renew SleepClock is an intelligent dock compatible with iPod Touch, iPhone and iPad, that serves as a non-contact sleep monitor and alarm clock with a difference. Standard alarm clocks wake you at a set time which could be the wrong time in your sleep cycle. Let's look at that in a little more detail.
The Renew SleepClock actually measures your sleep and knows the optimum moment to stir you from your sleep, helping you to wake up feeling refreshed.
Using the inbuilt sensor, by measuring your breathing and movement the Renew SleepClock knows when you are asleep, where you are in your sleep cycle and when you wake up. As you sleep, you move between different sleep states: deep sleep, light sleep and awake. Each sleep cycle typically lasts about 90 minutes in adults, and then restarts.
It's best to be woken up at the end of a sleep cycle, in your lightest sleep state so that waking feels more natural. Renew SleepClock monitors what phase of a sleep cycle you are in throughout the night and will then wake you at the optimum time within a wake-up window you choose (eg. 7:30 - 8:00am).
The Renew SleepClock will also use music from you device to allow you to fall asleep, automatically monitoring your sleep and switching off the music once asleep.
The Renew SleepClock is a crossover product in the audio-lifestyle market and yet another intelligent product from GEAR4.
Available from Harvey Norman from this weekend, the Renew SleepClock comes with a $299 RRP.
