HEOS Soundbar and Subwoofer

New to the ever-growing HEOS by Denon range is 'HomeCinema', a wireless soundbar and subwoofer system. Make your TV shows and movies sound better with a simple solution.

The HEOS range continues to expand, making it truly a whole-home audio solution. The HEOS HomeCinema upgrades the sound of any flat TV while also working as a powerful speaker set for the HEOS wireless music system.

The wireless soundbar features dual 2-inch by 5-inch precision drivers that reproduce the upper bass and midrange audio, delivering clear audio especially in the important vocal range. There are also dual 20mm dome tweeters that reproduce the entire treble range, with response extending to 20 kHz.

The unit provides a HDMI input and output (with TV audio return channel) as well as Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS decoders. Most modern TVs come with one of the HDMI inputs equipped with Audio Return Channel (ARC), which lets users listen to audio from a source device (such as a cable or satellite box) as well as being able to listen to audio from the TV's internal tuner or from a smart TV's built-in content streaming capabilities. In addition users can use the TV remote to control the volume of the soundbar.

With built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoding, listeners can enjoy enveloping surround sound thanks to Denon's exclusive Virtual Surround processing, which uses advanced psychoacoustic algorithms that simulate the surround sound of a multi-channel home theater speaker system. Dolby Digital Plus let you enjoy 5.1-based sound from leading video online services for premium content.

The matching wireless HEOS HomeCinema subwoofer features dual 5¼-inch woofers that work in tandem to deliver the authoritative deep bass found in today's movie and music soundtracks for distortion-free bass at any listening level. The level can be easily controlled via the HEOS app. The compact subwoofer can be placed horizontally or vertically for the widest range of installation options.

Never miss that game or race. The TV sound can also be distributed throughout the HEOS multi-room system. There's an installation assistant via the HEOS app, including IR TV remote learning so you can put those other remotes away.

HEOS HomeCinema works in harmony with all other HEOS products in the range. A true multi-room audio solution. HomeCinema is expected to be available in August 2015 for $1,499 RRP.

Denon HEOS is distributed in Australia by Qualifi.

    applause awards

Each time StereoNET reviews a product, it is considered for an Applause Award. Winning one marks it out as a design of great quality and distinction – a special product in its class, on the grounds of either performance, value for money, or usually both.

Applause Awards are personally issued by StereoNET’s global Editor-in-Chief, David Price – who has over three decades of experience reviewing hi-fi products at the highest level – after consulting with our senior editorial team. They are not automatically given with all reviews, nor can manufacturers purchase them.

The StereoNET editorial team includes some of the world’s most experienced and respected hi-fi journalists with a vast wealth of knowledge. Some have edited popular English language hi-fi magazines, and others have been senior contributors to famous audio journals stretching back to the late 1970s. And we also employ professional IT and home theatre specialists who work at the cutting edge of today’s technology.

We believe that no other online hi-fi and home cinema resource offers such expert knowledge, so when StereoNET gives an Applause Award, it is a trustworthy hallmark of quality. Receiving such an award is the prerequisite to becoming eligible for our annual Product of the Year awards, awarded only to the finest designs in their respective categories. Buyers of hi-fi, home cinema, and headphones can be sure that a StereoNET Applause Award winner is worthy of your most serious attention.
