TomW Posted January 10, 2016 Share Posted January 10, 2016 (edited) The January 2016 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again gather for an afternoon of fine music, great sound and amicable company.Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. As is usual for our January meeting, we will have a system comprised of club member components. But our meeting this year will be a bit different … we’ll have an Australian twist in celebration of Australia Day coming up. Bring any music composed by or performed by Australian artist/s. Most of our meeting will be BYO so we may be able to allow the playing of more than 1 track per person, depending on how much music everyone brings. Details of the system…. This method of playing discs was carried out in reverse of how the original master disc was actually cut in the first instance. The technology went back to basics and then improved upon it. The second arm ‘reads’ the tracks of the record, ’seeing’ the gaps in between. In this fashion it ‘knew’ just where one track ended and another one began. It also automatically sensed the size of the record being played and set the speed accordingly. Clever stuff indeed, especially for 1972, when the technology was being designed and developed!â€. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite Australiana music on CD/SACD, USB flash drive or vinyl. All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind.Guests are always welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound.
