Not quite a GTG - Art Song Perth (alas, too late)

Recommended Posts

Just discovered, two days too late for the 2015 season :( , that Perth has had a lieder society for 25 years.

Art Song Perth puts on recitals of "song" - usually one or two vocalists accompanied by piano - even more intimate in scale than chamber music.  Much of the canon is from 19th century Germany, influenced by the romantic Sturm und Drang movement.

Like fado, blues or doina there's often an undertone of yearning or melancholy - but wrapped up by some of the best writers of the 19th century (Schubert, Schumann, Brahms etc.)

Each year, Art Song Perth presents a series of recitals by both experienced and emerging artists. These recitals are open to both members and the general public, and provide artists wishing to expand their art song repertoire with a valuable opportunity to perform before an informed and appreciative audience.

Next year!

Another good thing is the WAYO "Baby Proms". Kids love it and so do the adults. I've been taking the kids for the last 2 years.

Nothing like getting to stand amidst the orchestra at the end while they play. Stereophonic? Quadraphonic? Meh, try Quinquagintiphonic  :)
