TomW
The July 2015 meeting of the Sydney Audio Club sees us once again gather for an afternoon of fine music, great sound and amicable company. Each month, the Sydney Audio Club presents the finest in high end audio systems for our members and guests. It's a bit like a private audio show once a month where you can hear and discuss equipment that you might not otherwise have the chance to audition. And you can bring along your own music to test the capabilities of the system or to just share with like-minded music lovers in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. It’s Vintage/Classic time once again. We had a lot of wonderful vintage gear in our last vintage/classic meeting back in July 2013, but this year is looking even better! For our meeting, we are considering anything pre-1995 to be vintage/classic equipment. Some of the gear will be on static display, but a lot is functional and will be used on the day. We plan to have at least two main systems this year. The following is not exhaustive, but here’s an idea of what will be on hand: Harmon Kardon turntable Thorens TD160 turntable A. R. Sugden & Co. Connoisseur BD1 turntable complete with a SME tone-arm and a Shure V15 Type 3 cartridge Nakamichi 1000Z cassette player Nakamichi RX-303 cassette player Meridian CD player Quad 33 preamplifier and Quad 303 power amp and Quad FM3 stereo tuner Rodgers E40A - Rodgers British High Fidelity Pure Class A 60'th Anniversary Model (integrated valve amplifier) NAD 1700 Monitor Series preamplifier and tuner NAD 2600 Monitor Series power amplifier Meridian 100 series preamplifier and power amp Klipsch Forte 11 speakers (floor standers) Boston Acoustics A-400 speakers Gales speakers B&W CDM 1NT speakers B&W DM4 speakers B&W DM70 speakers The second half of the music sessions will be our popular BYO. Members and guests are welcome to offer music to share with us all. So bring along your favourite music on vinyl or CD. (No provision for flash drives or SACD.) All we ask is that the music and recordings be interesting. We'll ask you to tell us a little about the artist/recording before it is played. Tracks over 6 minutes will be faded out, to give everyone a fair go.Whether you are a novice or a seasoned veteran, you will have the opportunity to listen, learn and share your experiences with others of a similar mind.Guests are always welcome – we are a very friendly club so you don't need to know anyone to join us for an afternoon of fine music and sound. We will welcome you at the door.Venue: Epping Creative Centre, Dence ParkAddress: 26 Stanley St, Epping When: Sunday 12th July 2015 Doors open 1pmMeeting starts at 2pm Best regards, Tom Waters President Sydney Audio Club www.sydneyaudioclub.org.au tomwaters@sydneyaudioclub.org.au Edited July 6, 2015 by TomW
