Classic pre and power.

And with some friends in my big comparo a while back.

I could have sworn I had an internal pic as well but it appears I don't :( .  Oh well, additional pics by request if anyone really wants to see the innards.

Edit:  Almost forgot, this amp does not like high capacitance speaker cables, so braided cat 5 cables, ribbontek (or ribbonflex) or gertz are out of the question!  I've tried the first two and I've included the third by reputation.

Err how much for the police box in the corner... :)

You can't put a price on the Tardis, it's a pop culture icon and as such I could not bring myself to put it up for sale.

Sorry, I had to sign a non-disclosure agreement so I can't divulge any particulars, but generally speaking, pretty freaking awesome!

Oh and Hensa, Monday after next you should really take a sickie.  Just trust me, OK!

On a slightly more serious note, yes, I am looking forward to 06:50 on Sunday morning.  I've already set my alarm.

Wait a minute, that's daylight savings time.  OK, 05:50 EST it is then, good thing I checked.

The only thing missing are some daleks :)

I did have an inflatable dalek for a while, (originally purchased to be used as a bucks night joke for a mate of mine but for several reasons that never came to pass) but once my nephew decided that he would make a good boxing partner the poor dalek didn't last too long.

I miss him, he always got a few good stares when I drove around with him stuffed into the passenger seat (if only I'd had a sun roof, now that would have been cool).

OK, Christmas discount time.  Cut another hundred off the power amp for $1200 and $50 off the pre down to $750.

All right, just in time for "Christmas in July" I'll drop the price to $1000 for the 28 and $500 for the 21 (plus postage).  And Merry Not-Really-Christmas!

And just for kicks, a 'lids lifted' shot of the Classic 21 preamp.

And a 'lids lifted' shot or two of the Classic 28 power amp.

Note the size of the torroidal transformer in the 21 preamp, about the same size as the ones in the power amp, somewhere around 400VA I would guess.

      Item: Audio Research DS-450
      Location: Perth
      Price: $7500
      Item Condition: excellent
      Reason for selling: trying something
      Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only
      Extra Info: I'm the first owner; bought this from a dealer a few months ago. Can provide receipt. I upgraded from Parasound JC-1 monoblocks and the DS-450 is more punchy and a lot faster than JC1. Amazing amp. Current model still selling now for AU$13495 http://www.synergyaudio.com/Audio-Research/Amplifiers/147/catmenu.aspx

      * Item : Gainclone LM3875 25w x 2 @8ohm
      * Location: Carnegie VIC 3163

      * Item condition description: Apart from the dent on one corner- excellent
      * Price and price conditions: $150 ono.
      * Reason for selling:

      Doesn't suit my power hungry speakers. I would recommend it to someone with efficient speakers.

      I found that I could hear a lot of detail with this amp but lacked drive compared to my HIGH powered power amp.
      * Payment Methods:  Paypal, Cash - Pickup. I think from last time postage was around $18-20 Aust. wide
      * Extra Info:

      Original FS ad  I bought this off /profile/120534-henry218/" rel="">@henry218 for $180

      It also requires a Zobel  network (that's what I was told)  at the speakers output terminal because of the slight buzz with my speakers. I've heard them on 3 speakers and 2 out of 3 there was a buzz.

      needs .05 mh inductor & 1w 10ohm resistor

      Item: FS: ME25 Preamp and ME550II Hi Cap (Pick-up)
      Location: Sydney Nth Shore
      Price: $2000. Will consider splitting if there are buyers for both items (ME25 - $750; ME550II - $1350)
      Item Condition: Excellent. The ME25 was purchased from SamZ a few years ago. Has not been serviced since I've owned it as it has operated flawlessly. Does not have the upgraded power supply nor remote control. Has an excellent MM phono stage. The ME-550II Hi Cap has a provenance that few can rival as this was Trevor's personal power amplifier for many years till I purchased from him 18 months ago. Naturally, it is mechanically superb and cosmetically excellent to boot.
      Reason for selling: Continuing the journey and considering trying something different
      Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, COD Only
      Extra Info: So far this is the best amplifier combination I've heard in my system. The ME25/550II are superbly dynamic and drive my Celestion A3's with remarkable authority. I have no doubt that if I sell this combination, I will come back to ME at some point in my journey but for now, I'm thinking about trying something different and that means the MEs would need to move out.
      Pick up is preferred and audition is available for serious buyers.
      Pictures: I will load pictures over the weekend
      Here's one very poor iPhone pic just to show the combo in its natural habitat...

      Hi guys,

      I've had a pretty keen interest on Conrad Johnson gear over the past couple of months and I'm wondering if there are any owners here on SNA that would be happy to give some insights into their gear. Special interest goes to Premier gear. 2's, 4's, 8's, 12's etc. I know this gear is extremely rare in Australia and I'm resigned to idea that any responses may be minimal.

      Look forward to reading the contributions.

      Thanks!
