Hi Everyone 

 

Im confused with projectors but im looking at perhaps purchasing a 2nd hand one. I can get the below one for $500 will this be any good for a home theatre

Also I want to be able to watch normal tv through the projector what do I need to buy to make this happen. Im confused with all the xga 1080p etc etc i want something good by todays standards.

It's a business projector - contrast will be dreadful and it may not do 24Hz material without converting to 60Hz - this creates judder (inconsistent picture speed) that's very noticeable to most people.

Look for a used BenQ W1070 if the budget is tight.

Mate sub $500 is pretty low if you're looking at buying a projector. I'd suggest looking slightly under $1000...if your just starting out I'd seriously consider the epson tw5300. I've supplied and installed quite a few for my customers worried about budget. They're always over the moon with picture quality for such a low cost projector. I've posted a link I stumbled  a pon this afternoon. These sell for around $950+ so it's not a bad deal

BenQ w1090 is $899 with 2x 3D glasses or free bulb... Makes it $810 with the 10% off sale... Prob best picture under $1k... If you really can do Max $500 there's bound to be a refurbished 1080p of some description on ebay
