I think it really is an underrated sci fi classic. A couple of years ago whilst working in a retail outlet back home a young lady came up to my counter to buy some goods. She looked just like Milla Jovovich who played Leeloo in the movie. She had the same orange hair, cut in the same style. I asked her if she had ever seen the movie and she raised her credit card and said 'multipass'. She was obviously a fan as well. It's not underrated, it did well at box office and 3 x profit for production cost of $90M and made $260M. Reviewed well also. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Fifth_Element http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119116/
BAM
I have just received the 4K mastered bluray version of The Fifth Element. It seems that you can only get this with region A. So, unless you have a region free player it can't b e played. Luckily for me my Oppo has region free. This version compared to the standard bluray has less grain, eye popping colours and clarity, very good. Why this version is released by Sony only with region A is a mystery. It's only bluray with 4K mastering. How it compares to HDR I won't know for a long time.
