Portable player for Spotify - suggestions?

Recommended Posts

OK, so I have an elderly friend in a nursing home who loves his music.

My idea is to set him up with a Spotify account and build a playlist around the music that he enjoys. Because of other residents, I am thinking that headphones would be preferable, so am looking for some sort of easy to use portable player that could be used with Spotify.

Am I restricted to a smart phone or are their other options out there?

Any suggestions welcome :thumb:

I'd recommend the LG V20 phone if you want to carry one device that does it all. As a DAP, go for Onkyo DP-X1A that will allow you to store heaps of Spotify data on the first 256GB micro SD card while the second one could be used for FLACs and mp3s if so you wish. eGlobal has it on special for $679

I own the first X1 version since January last year and love it.

Is their wifi and does he need a high quality player for Spotify? Why not just a smaller Android tablet?

If he needs internet from a phone carrier then that means a sim card etc. He may appreciate the larger format as eyesight may be an issue if using a smaller phone.
