NAD T 743 is it me or the machine

6 posts in this topic

Purchased a NAD T 743 cheap at the weekend with remote and the manual.

After I had realised that there was a power switch on the rear as well as the front ,I tired to get some sound out of it.

Sound comes from the Radio and if I connect my CD to the front inputs I get sound but nothing from the input at the rear.

Am I missing some thing or is it stuffed?

Pictures are same model but not my actual amp.

I doubt that this is the problem, but check the pre-power links. Do you have anything connected to the tape or video outputs?

have you tried all the analog inputs on the back, how about the digital ones ?

is it a case of assigning inputs ? on some avrs you have to actually assign inputs. it could be case also previous owner has re assigned them ?

may or may not be the case here, both worth a check through the menu system

Yeah, Al may be on to something.  I had the NAD T787 and I could 'hide' or 'show' all inputs at my discretion.  The previous owner may have disabled the rear CD input in favour of a front panel connection.  Alternatively, they may have the rear CD input assigned to the optical in and not the RCA.

Hook it up to a TV and go in to the menu system and ensure all inputs are enabled.  The front panel display is a PITA and too small to work out what how the inputs are set-up.

Thanks guys

Some excellent advice.

Will connect to a  TV on the weekend and see if that helps me sort it out.
