I don't want any ads in my Email

14 posts in this topic

I've received ads in my Email for 1 month. I've been a member for many years and i've never had this problem, and I didn't change anything in my account settings.

What can I do ?

In your email account get it marked as junk and/or blocked.

Hi Pasgod,

Yes, I've noticed the same thing recently with Stereonet sending me advertising. Only started in the last month or so.

You can stop it by clicking on the 'Remove from Forum Newsletter' link on the bottom of the email.

This will be the best solution as it will unsubscribe you.

If you mark it as junk, it can actually hurt SNA and will cause more spam filters to mark it as spam, even for those who may wish to see the content.

But that's what it is.  ;)

I don't call it spam or junk, I call it teasing.

If you request to receive a newsletter ..... and then instead of saying to the person sending it "I no longer want to receive this newsletter" .....  you tell a 3rd party that "I didn't ever elect to receive this newsletter".

....  then?!

Are you applying what you say to this SNA scenario?

If so, I've never requested to receive SNA advertising emails, so I certainly class it as junkmail...

Might want to check with @Marc about that ;)

(I'd be surprised if you haven't)

Don't need to, I know I have never requested advertising emails.  ;)

Edit: here's a snapshot of my email notifications which I haven't changed from the old site in years, and when the new one came through made them reflect the same settings -

The only way my email addy was added to any mailing list was by a default setting or action (possibly when buying the hifi show ticket).  Again - not a setting that I actively request, and wherever possible I always disable this option, so somewhere it would have to have been sneakily snuck through, or added without consultation.
