Inflation........................

Yes indeed. However it's actually well worth the cost even today. The acoustics in Elder hall are great. Some to experience in itself.

Hi guys,

See you all on Sunday.

I will meet at Caffiend Coffee Company at noon.

We will then get to Ukaria and be there around 2PM for drinks and then the performance starts at 3PM.

Should be a great day - 25 degrees!

Cheers

It's looks like having a coffee with you guys up there before the concert is a bit of a stretch. Might have to go straight to the venue.
Next time Lazz.

A beautiful day for a GTG with perfect weather.

First a few of us met at Leon's (Lazz) relatives cafe - Caffiend in Hahndorf. GREAT coffee and food.

Loves Leon's tip glass - didn't have any coins in my pocket to donate though!

Please visit and add to his tip glass to help him on his hifi journey.

Leon, I owe you a buck! :)

Then off to Ukaria for a lovely glass of red and some baroque music.

Beautiful performances.

Once again, it is something of course far beyond hi-fi.

Delicacy. Texture. Detail. Hey, it's real life (!) in a stupendously acoustic venue.

Imaging. Closed my eyes and you can tell exactly where the instruments and vocals are coming from. Something I think is very important in hi-fi as well.

A wonderful day to spend a Sunday arvo.

Will have a few more GTG's here for sure. Highly recommended!

In a small venue with just a few performers you should be able to locate individuals. Not possible with a full (or half) orchestra in a full sized venue.

That is one of the problems of recording orchestras - multiple milking, miking of individual performers and sections gives an artificial presentation of the orchestra. Much easier to do on quartets, Baroc ensemble and small/intimate recordings.

Music is all good though.

This was a good day. Everyone needs to take the opportunity to check this place out and have a listen. Cheers.

I would have enjoyed it more if I had remembered to take the cable lock off the front wheel of my bike before charging off on the gravel driveway to leave.

Somehow managed to get myself home, dope up with panadeine, which is working now, and wait for the swelling to start in my left wrist and ankle.

Get well Grant, you must have been seriously smitten with the music to forget about the lock!  Probably lucky you were on gravel - had you gunned it on bitumen it might have been different.
