SOLD

Item: pair Elac Uni-Fi UB5
Location: Hurstbridge Vic
Price: $750 (new price seems to be $1300 locally)
Item Condition: As new
Reason for selling: downscaling

Extra Info:

I'm downscaling from multichannel to stereo with a baby on the way in a few weeks. I bought these brand new last year for my audio-only multichannel system with PSE-144 horns up front. Great match, preferred these to the LS50s and X300A I had at the time.

They are in perfect condition and have only been played very gently as rears. They've been living on ceiling-high shelves out of harms way and have had nary a finger layed on them since the day they arrived. I took gentle measurements on them when they arrived, as I do all new speakers to make sure they survived the journey, and they measure just fine, so buy with confidence. Happy to repeat measurements and/or set up as fronts for an audition with your tunes.

Photos if you want them, but they look identical to stock photos of the black ones like these https://www.stereophonic.com.au/elac-uni-fi-ub5-bookshelf-pair/

$1300 new, are Aus stores having a laugh? Someone is taking a fair bit of cream on top.

It's called the "Australia Tax". Apparently we're all idiots in this country. You could get pair of KEF Q300's (nice speaker BTW, just don't drive them too hard or you'll blow them up like did) for £249.00 in the UK which at today's exchange rate equates to $408 AUD. Currently available at JB Hifi for only $1088. Bargain! Sorry to the OP for going off topic. GLWTS.

I wasn't aware they were still available on Amazon (tried to buy the Elac amplifier and was told they wouldn't ship to Oz). I think I'll lower price to $750. The added value here being the chance at a relaxed demo in a well treated room. And avoiding the risk of importing and having to ship back speakers damaged in transit.

I think you'll actually find it's ELAC having a laugh. Synergy is generally very good when it comes to price parity (by the time you take into account conversion, shipping, GST), but with these new Andrew Jones designed ranges, ELAC are proving to be less flexible.
