Heifetz
Hi, I'm considering buying two of the R.K.CABLE Furutech (gold pins) shielded power cables for use on my two sub-basses. Has anyone used these and might have an opinion. I wondering what kind of character they exhibit. They are about $300 each. Is there any point in spending more for a cable that only needs information for the low frequencies? Thx, Bob
Zaphod Beeblebrox
Since a mains power cable is only ever expected to carry 50/60Hz, I reckon, no, you don't need to spend any more on the mains power cable. Silver is the best conductor, so look for silver plated mains connectors, not gold.
Soundwise
Here's one to consider, 2.0m are a bit long for me and I haven't purchased from this ebay seller. The US plug would need to go into your conditioner and not the wall, but the price is good. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Audio-PS-Audio-Perfectwave-AC-12-Power-Cable-Power-Line-2-0m-US-Version-Amplifie-/322328181850?hash=item4b0c41bc5a:g:3w8AAOSwcdBWQ7dO

Don't waste your money on these CHEAP CHINESE FAKES!!!! Google "fake PS Audio AC-12" for more info. REAL PS Audio AC-12 retails for over US$1K for a single 2mt cable with U.S. male connector. I would recommend DYI using Belden 19364 and Furutech connectors. http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/mains-cables-r-us/197953-belden-19364-audiophile-mains-cable.html Edited March 20, 2017 by JohnL
Soundwise
Hi Bob, After further thought, I can probably live with 2.0m but it will look a bit untidy. I have asked the seller some serious questions and may end up getting two. Will let you know how I go...
Weka
Every branded power cable from that supplier is a Chinese made fake. Why would you waste your money? Buy the R.K.CABLE Furutech cords - Aus compliant, better quality and you can get the exact length you require.
Soundwise
Best Aus compliant cable is the Audio Principe signature power cable. Peter also makes up different lengths and it's a better looking cable. I think I must have at least 10 in my system. http://audioprincipe.com.au/australian-power-cables/signature-shielded-power-cable/
Weka
Yes, those look to be good value for the price as well @Soundwise Especially when you consider the cost of the connectors alone.
Soundwise
FYI, the Ebay seller "xangsane" has not responded to my questions so based on their lack of response, I'm not comfortable buying from them.
