Saw this tonight , wife had recently read the book and daughter read it in high school.   Another quirky Australian movie delving into socially awkward country Australia. In this case in the 60,s and in Western Australia , which is a nice touch - Pemberton and Manjimup .

 

bit of slow movie to get started and to be honest it never speeds up , just maintaining constant flow with lots of things and people not as they seem. Okay acting by the younger stars and although I can't stand her Toni Colette does a good job.hugo weaving is good but that big a part. Nice scenery tho and a nice atmospheric soundtrack. Good low key movie

Watched this last night and we enjoyed it.
A good solid performance by all, and a well made movie. It was like being transported back to the 60s/70s I remembered as a kid. Not just racial issues but the whole attitude towards a child and its role in society.
