Andythiing
Early call but listening to Sampha's debut album process - stunning debut - if this is the standard of music we can look forward too in 2017 it will be a huge year. Check out the video clip for like my piano
goldiver
Love his voice, put to great use in the first SBTRKT album. Unfortunately Sampha's own songwriting is a letdown IMO. I bought his E.P. a few years ago, and enjoyed some of his ideas, although the songs seemed unfinished and experimental. I had high hopes for his maiden album then. But I really can't stand it! Sorry....
Guest
Sorry it's not to your taste - great thing about music is we can all enjoy our own styles - I was surprised you felt his writing did not stand up to a high standard - it was part of what me rate it so highly - great lyricist its getting pretty goid good reviews so I'd encourage others to at least give it a shot http://www..com/music/albumreviews/review-samphasprocess-w464380 https://www.google.com.au/amp/pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/22831-process/amp/?client=safari http://www.metacritic.com/music/process/sampha Edited February 5, 2017 by andythiing

I tend to always listen to the music first and if it draws me in then lyrics eventually... (Except for Dylan)...Different strokes..........! Hmmm, after giving the album a second listen I'm even more convinced of how annoying it is...The vocal phrases become so monotonous; like he's in love with his own voice. Makes me want to drown Sampha in a bathtub...... (Sorry Sampha). Edited February 14, 2017 by goldiver

debblernuts
Haven't been able to process FJM's latest one. My favourite so far is Automaton - Jamiroquai. So catchy it hurts. along with the XX - I See You and Feist - Pleasure. Based on the singles, I'll probably put London Grammar's new album, and Mew's new one, up there. Ryan Adam's Prisoner B-sides, if that counts as an album, is actually better than the original A-sides. Unfortunately, I won't be adding The Shins or Gorillaz to this list. Both these albums are pretty crap. Edited April 28, 2017 by debblernuts

keyse1
Review: Chuck Prophet, 'Bobby Fuller Died For Your Sins' : NPR great record All his albums are this good Like Alejandro Escovedo who he sometimes co-writes with a rock n roll genius To me anyway Almost unheard of outside the world of fanatics
