metamatics
This time I was in need of a cdp , looking through the various online for sale sections about the place with no luck until I went to the local recycle centre to take the green waste to dump off .. Happen to have a look at the junk section and found a sherwood cdp301r , took the player to the counter and plugged it in and it spun , took the chance ... So it happens to have the Phillips TDA1541 and some fins on the rear .. anyway today was the best $5 spent and can't believe how warm it sounds , while I was there I found a portable webber also ....
TOPSHELF
What exactly does the white belt do? My experience on an older planar 3 rb600 was better and more solid bass. Well worth the extra over the standard.Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk
stevoz
Arrived yesterday, one of these, at the price ($22.00) it's really great for stylus/cantilever inspection as is being discussed on below thread and which also inspired me to buy one (I have put up some screen shots on same thread). There are better versions with higher resolution available, I went cheap, just in case it was crap, which it isn't. Gijo1977
So I found a couple of $2 LPs in a local op-shop: George Benson - Weekend in L.A. and Paul Young - No Parlez Without cleaning, George is sounding pretty good .
stevoz
Arrived yesterday from Germany, a German(!) pressing of this, 'Holy Cow': by Martini Ranch (Sire Records,1988). They were an 80's musical side project of the late actor Bill Paxton and his friend Andrew Todd. Musical contributors to the album were members of DEVO (their stamp is all over this, it's produced by Robert Casale....Bob 2), B52's Cindy Wilson and Oingo Boingo. It's sound is definitely late 80's, dancy funky bass driven electronica and I must say....what a recording/production! Dynamic and refined, it sounds fantastic. I only found out about their existence when I was sent an email from Futurismo (Devo's marketing arm and yes, I'm into Devo) post Paxton's death alerting me of the re-release of this album on vinyl as a tribute to Paxton. Pre-ordered w/postage from the US, it was going to cost me around $60 or more, so I scored an original pressing for $17.29 and it's a cracker. Advertised as 'excellent', it's more NM. Bargain, and a lot of fun too! Edited April 4, 2017 by stevoz

mwhouston
On a recent visit to Greville St, after lunch, I dropped into the local secondhand record store. In thousands of LPs they had one box of classical. Pleased with three out of four. The RCA Red Seal is new.

arthur63
18 months ago a friend put me onto Herbie Mann's album 'London Underground'. I recently purchased a sealed copy of Herbie's 1973 release, Hold On, I'm Comin', a great live recording of some of his hits. Brilliant. Even the wife enjoyed it!
LuzArt
A curious album. Never heard of this guy. Sealed, audiophile and acoustic guitars will always get my money though. It's super clean and well recorded. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
