Johnno
Hi, I'm looking for a recommendation for a turntable repairer in Sydney, ideally the job done right at a sensible price. The turntable is a 1978 Technics SL-23 belt drive. Auditioned years ago, I thought it stacked up pretty well against an entry level Thorens, so it's probably worth repairing. As far as I can tell, it needs a new belt, and the two speed controllers for 33 and 45 rpm were all over the place when it was last used. Looking forward to your comments/recommendations. Johnno
Thanks Tase, "...ideally the job done right at a sensible price." There might of course be someone who'll do the job right at a bargain price, but I'm not holding my breath. Happy to pay a fair price (without paying through the nose). I'm in the Dundas / North Parramatta area. Johnno.
garm1520
In a bit of a same seat, need some work done on a Thorens Td126 MK2. Would like to have it put in a new plinth and a new arm installed. I'm in the Hills district. Cheers.
k3here
You could try the spin doctor based on Hornsby. I haven't used him myself but I am impressed by his repair jobs posted on Facebook. I have used Classic hiFi in Newtown and they did a good job on my Thorens but I wouldn't call them cheap. I guess it depends on what needs to be done. TOPSHELF
I believe a fair few classic hifi turn tables head to the central coast for a quick fettle before returning home.....
