No worries, if you need help just PM me. At least I know a lot what not to do with DIY-electrostatics ;) Attached a picture of my ESL-project... Good luck with the repair, sounds like you have a HV-leakage on yours and need to replace the Mylar-films.

Hi matakivi,

ESLs is something that has been featured on our DIY forums (to my knowledge).

Perhaps you could post some pics & history of your project on the DIY forum pages, for budding ESL DIYers? ;)

This is a guy called Greg, based in Upper Hutt. He's a military trained genius tech that takes a huge amount of pride in the work he does, and with good reason. I try and do what I can with my own gear because at least I know what parts are being used and can do fairly good work, but when I get stuck or want a piece to really shine, it goes to Greg.

He's a mate of mine, but I'd be saying he was great even if he wasn't a friend. He specialises in tube stuff but is excellent at SS gear as well. Also does great woodwork and some speaker repair.

Mark Brumby, Auckland, at AudioMark (09) 529 5455, especially speaker repairs, but has also upgraded my Quad 405, plus a refurb on FM4 Quad, and is magic for sensible advice - as in 'christ no, dont buy that'

Kaleidoscope Wellington, looks like a dodgy TV repair shop, but aligned a philips transport, and fixed switches on valve pre-amp. All very prompt and cheap.
