I bought this pair of speakers about a year ago and they have occupy the pride of place on my main audio system.  They are currently being used with my tube Jadis DA50S but I have also used them with Naim Uniti 2.  I have tried a no of speakers but none seem to work as well in my main system which requires the speakers to be close to the back wall (these are front ported) and open plan living room (although I do not play my music extremely loud).  

 

Their strengths and characteristics:

 

- works extremely well with both SS and tube amp

- works very well with all type of music (some of my other speakers shine with particular music and not others; these shine well with any music I throw at it.  Their measured frequency is very flat) Even tough these are bookshelf speakers, they have a respectable bass but will work very well with a sub as well.

- Particularly strong with vocals and instrumentals

- one of the few speakers which makes me forget the speakers.  The interesting looking cabinet (which is reminiscent of a certain high end italian brand) is very heavy (15.5kg) and does not give the "boxy" sound of certain speakers.

 

RRP is $3299.  The cheapest I can find is a demo set from Carlton AV for $2390.

 

Colour is light Birch.

 

This would be ideal for someone who is looking for a high quality speakers but does not have room for a floorstander (or looking for WAF) or need a set of speakers to be close to back walls.

Thought the previous model was one of better mini monitors I've heard. Can only imagine these would be even better with better bass performance.

This model with the DMD tweeter is far better than the original one with the Berryllium. More extended and open, but also not harsh or bright. Beautiful cabinet work as well and quite surprising bass given their size.

When I was in the midst of buying the Dancer Mini 2 DMD, I was fortunate enough to get a listen to the first pair of Mini X in the country. I'm talking brand new out of the box and they sounded delicious.

Absolute bargain at that price, treat them to some nice stands and enjoy.
