ex brickie
I've had my DV20x for a few years but not massively used. That said, it must be towards the end of its life despite still looking good and a perfectly straight cantilever . Without a microscope how does one tell the condition and life of the stylus tip? Here in Townsville there are no specialist hifi dealers 😕 Does the cartridge have a minimum $ value for trade in? I guess that could be a starting point when I decide to sell Thanks

I recently sold the same cart as yours with about 50 - 75 hours Max for $700.

Guest soundandpictures
how is the 20% calculated ? 20% of the historical cost ? 20% of the replacement cost of a new 20x ? or 20% of the new cartridge you want to buy ? If you're doing a like-for-like trade-in you get 20% off the price of the replacement DV-20X. If you go up or down a grade, the formula changes though not sure how. I guess that could be a starting point when I decide to sell Thanks Why then do you think its at the end of its life, if not massively used? Suspension may perish over time, but if all else is ok it may have a lot of life left. Only an experienced tech can tell via microscope if its worn out. Dynavector will give you 20% trade in so that would be your minimum price. I recently sold the same cart as yours with about 50 - 75 hours Max for $700. But the OPs is a 20x, yours the version 2, 20x2? At 75 hours its only just run in, so sounding its best and at $700 a stonking bargain. I was told that 20% off would apply when trading a broken cantilever 20x for a new 20x2, 20% off new 20x2 retail price. ex brickie
Well it still sounds fine - need to find someone with a microscope Mine is the older version 20X (not 20x2). Are you saying you get the 20% off even if broken? If so, I guess mine might be worth a bit more

Off the price when you buy a new 20x2. 20% off regardless of condition (broken or working)... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk yes But of course, when trading up they are discounting, so NO your broken 20x isn't worth 20% off new price. But your unbroken one maybe... I recently had a cart I wanted to sell and sent it to Brian at Decibel Hifi and he checked it and provided me with a written report so I was able to sell the cart with confidence knowing the exact condition. Cost $32 including return delivery.

Peter-C
Hi Ex b. Looks like jdaudioon have a problem with their contact us email page, maybe why you've not heard back? Brian at Decibel sends the carts to Garrott Bros here in Melb as you may know, I've used them in the past to have an old Linn cart (Asak) re-tipped and was impressed with the result, it did take a while though. Not sure I'd send my XX2 mk2 there though. I got my DV from Peter Griffin at Grooveworks here in Vic. He's sells the DV-20X2 for $1350 and is good to deal with. He also does the DV trade-in deal and throws in a stylus force gauge as well (if you don't already have one). I'd try him Pete.
