  1. Item: SALK SONGTOWER SUPERCHARGED SPEAKERS (MAPLE WOOD GLOSS FINISH) Location: Perth (WA) Price: $2500 Item Condition: Immaculate (looks like new) Reason for selling: Used as 2nd system and new place has room for main system only Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only. Extra for shipping Extra Info: I have purchased the SALK speakers about 3 years ago and used as a 2nd system. It has been in storage for 1.5 years. They have less than 70 hours and barely just broken in. I have trialed many different speakers available in local shops but none appears great sound/value to my ears. I then shifted my focus to overseas direct sales and done a lot of research before I settled to buy these speakers (without listen). I was glad to make the decision and would really want to keep the speakers if room allows. I spent about $5800 AUD include shipping and tax from USA. A lot of great professional reviews on these speakers and still one of the favors for many buyers. Link for the speakers http://www.salksound.com/model.php?model=Supercharged+SongTower RAAL RIBBON This tweeter does an amazing disappearing act. It is almost as if there is no tweeter there at all...just a crystal clear window into the sound. This helps create the illusion that the performers are actually in the space with you. MAGNESIUM CONES The Seas W15 woofers in this design feature stiff, low-mass magnesium cones. Thus, they are able to re-create subtle detail in the midrange that other drivers simply can't reproduce. Many customers remark on hearing detail in familiar recordings that they never heard before. Reviews below are mostly for the base version and the supercharged is the upgraded version with much better sound! Audioholics http://www.audioholics.com/tower-speaker-reviews/salk-songtower-qwt I rarely gush over speakers as much as I have the Salk SongTower QWTs...The imaging is very good, the bass very deep and linear, and the detail is amazing...the Salks are a very, very good speaker in a very, very pretty package. Enjoythemusic.com http://www.enjoythemusic.com/magazine/equipment/0408/stalk_signature_songtower.htm Salk Signature Sound has hit an out of the park home run with the SongTower. The build quality and performance are both top shelf. In fact, they easily compare with speakers priced at two times their quite reasonable cost of admission. What I find incredible is that the SongTower is handcrafted in the United States, yet costs less than "comparable" speakers imported from other countries the absolute sound http://www.theabsolutesound.com/articles/audio-by-van-alstine-ultravalve-power-amplifier-salk-sound-songtower-qwt-loudspeaker-tas-204/ ...one of the most enjoyable in some 30 years of audio reviewing, and enjoying the music is what this passion of ours should be all about. A four-star recommendation! Pictures:
  2. Hi, Does anybody know somewhere that does repairs on super tweeters, the brand is Grant. Any assistance would be helpful. Thanks in advance. JJ

  4. Further information: Magneplanar SMGa Ribbon speakers in great condition. A bit of a regrettable sale but I just don’t have the room for them anymore. Magnepans are known for having some of the best sound stage & imaging these will not disappoint. Once correctly set up you’ll struggle to go back to conventional cone loudspeakers of this price range. Best to come have a listen & plenty of reviews online. This pair is matching consecutive serial numbers & come with the original boxes so shipping available if you would like to organise it. **looking for a pre amp or integrated with pre outs so happy to do a trade for similar value or cash adjustment ** Photos: PLEASE READ If you include any reference to pricing whatsoever in this section (excluding RRP), your ad will not be approved If you are advertising multiple items, you must post one bulk price only, or post seperate ads for each item If you don't include photographs of the actual item being sold, your ad will not be approved You understand that a reasonable donation for selling fees is expected upon successful sale of your item
  5. Further information: Adelaide Speakers Ascension Woodfox Ribbon 822SRTL Bookshelf /stand mount High quality woofer using an Papyrus cone, ribbon tweeter, Rose Mahogany Veneer. 6. Further information: Superb monitors with frankly incredible frequency response - 36hz (!) to 65khz. You read that right, they do go low and do it well! Clean, fast, rhythmic, fun, detailed and neutral, they've really exceeded my expectations from what a small speaker can do; I've only retired them due to getting substantially larger speakers in my system (Osborn Epitome Reference Elites). Instead of waxing lyrical, I've attached a professional review (see the two PDFs) of them which does a great job of describing them - all except for their sensitivity rating, these speakers are 85dB, not 97dB! Comes with original: Packaging Jumpers (although they respond well to better ones, I was using a $1,200 pair with them and didn't feel this was overkill) and Grilles. The spiked feet they are pictured with can be included for a small fee; they are excellent and make a worthwhile improvement to the sound quality. NB. There are a couple of cosmetic marks, from the grilles being attached on the front of each speaker (see photos). This is not from neglect, it was a manufacturing issue Quadral have since rectified. You are welcome to come over to audition them if you like. Photos: Quadral Aurum Galan 9's Hifi World Review PI0001.pdf Quadral Aurum Galan 9's Hifi World Review PII0001.pdf
  7. These speakers were purchased in 1998. They are still working flawlessly. Having decided to move, I have to part with these superb speakers. Original Ambience Technical booklet and set up instructions included. Demo for genuine buyers only. The price includes the speaker cables. The price is negotiable (within reason). 10. Item: 1pair Dali DaCapo Ribbon Speakers. Vintage unknown but Dali top of line speaker from 1988 to 1992. New price then was ~$6k. I purchased these to do a full refurb, having heard these in 1992, wanted them, but could not afford back then. Started refurb, but the SQ was way better than my earlier speakers [ribbons from 400Hz & up] & after the crossovers were refreshed they stayed hooked up. Previous owner purchased new, was a classical music lover & sold them when he moved into a retirement home. I have used with a sub & electronic crossover. The project would have been similar to John Reekie's minidsp & 2 way amp speaker project for drive electronics Location: Sydney Price: $1,200 including 2 spare ribbons in sealed vials valued at $200 each. These replacement ribbons when installed will last another 25 years. Item Condition: Ribbons & woofers fully functional, crossover capacitors refreshed 1 year ago. Ribbon grill cloth could do with a refresh. If you know how to put on a pair of stockings then you should be capable of replacing the grey ribbon cloth. There is one ***** out of the LHS ribbon panel. It is small, although it looks huge in the close up photo. Close to the floor & hardly noticeable. Black grill cloth fine on woofer box. Metal base is fine as is both of the aluminium top bars. The RHS amplifier connectors have been replaced with Jaycar gold/brass connectors on the copper bars connecting to the ribbon and woofer speakers. The photos show reflection from the flash for the woofer membrane & the ribbon but in normal light these are difficult to see. Reason for selling: Upgraded, wife wants these gone to reclaim the sun room. I cannot justify another set of ribbon speakers PM me if you have any questions or would like an audition. Payment Method: Pickup - Cash Extra Info: 1. Due to weight (30kg) & size, expensive to ship. I do not have suitable boxes to pack, so pick up only 2. Prepared to swap for a power amp. These are smaller PM with offer. Brochure here http://www.dali-spea...ALI-DaCapo.aspx [Danish] Manual attached - an interesting read & no longer on the Dali website. Drivers: Woofer - 10" X 40" membrane driven by 8" woofer - to match the dispersion characteristics of the ribbon near the crossover frequency Midrange/tweeter - 40" ribbon Frequency Response - 45 - 20kHz +/- 4dB Crossover Frequency: 400Hz Sensitivity (2.83V) - 85dB @ 1m Recommended amplifier - 50 to 200W / channel [easy to drive as the ribbon is 4ohm & not capacitive nor inductive] Dimensions Height - 118cm Depth (inc. base) - 31cm Depth (exc. base) - 15cm Width - 45cm Weight - 30kg each Pictures: Images attached DALI_DACAPO.pdf
  11. Item: Apogee Duetta Signature speakers Location: Surry Hills, Sydney Price: $2500 Item Condition: A few marks on frames, perfect ribbons Reason for selling: Moving house, new baby, picky wife Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: See below Pictures: See below It is with great regret that I am selling my Apogee Duetta Signature speakers. A new baby means we are probably moving, and toddler fingers and ribbons aren't a great combo. Many will need to introduction to these classics, but suffice it say they are generally considered to hit the sweet spot between size and quality in the Apogee range. They were considered amongst the very best regardless of price when released, and this seems to be the case today. The Apogees replaced my Linkwitz Orions and provide similar to slightly quality. I've owned Wilson, big Genesis, Maggies, Martin Logan and many others and these would be my pick. There are a few marks on the frames, but most importantly the ribbons seem to my eyes and ears to be physically and aurally flawless. There are no buzzes when run full range. I use them with a pair of Rythmik subs in any case. The Apogees provide transparent, dynamic full range sound that is pretty unique. I would greatly prefer pickup in Surry Hills because they are big and heavy. But I do have boxes which I had made when I bought them, and you can get original boxes or custom shipping containers from Graz in Queensland. So I could ship if I must.

  13. Item: Apogee Centaur minor Location: Canberra Price: $1100 Item Condition: excellent Reason for selling: moving on Payment Method: Pickup - Cash, Paypal, COD Only Extra Info: These Apogee Centaur is known as an audiophile reference speaker. It comes very close to the sound of the quad esl, whilst being much easier (and cheaper) to drive. http://www.audioreview.com/cat/speakers/floorstanding-speakers/apogee-acoustics/centaur-minor/prd_120857_1594crx.aspx anywhere in the world they sell for $1200-$1500 second hand. For some reason beyond me they they get crap prices in Australia. I find that hard to understand, considering the cost of importing them, then the fact that the replacement ribbons are actually made here. They are great for all sorts of music, with acoustic music and voice being their special area. In the review above one respondent critics the bass drivers- however this is much disputed on other forums, e.g. the planar asylum. I will consider offers Pictures:

Te best results I have had was with a 10 watt SET OTL amp, and they were just stunning (sadly Iblew one of these mono blocks but you can test then with the working one) They show the best with high end sources, such as high res digital and audiophile vinyl In the review above one respondent critics the bass drivers- however this is much disputed on other forums, e.g. the planar asylum.
