  1. Hi, This is my first, non introductory post, so here's hoping I don't look too incompetent... I have a pair of 3 way speakers (Axis LS-88 circa 1998), which have 2 mid-range drivers in each cabinet. The foam surround on all 4 drivers is no longer intact, and should be replaced. First question, can I remove the drivers from the speakers to get repaired (after properly isolating the wires) and still use the speakers safely? New drivers are not an option it seems, so they need new surround material installed. I am happy to attempt this to save money but I know a professional would do a better job. I have quotes, ranging from $75 to $120 inc labour per driver, plus 2 way postage. Who should I look to to supply the correct materials, and/or to do the job? Thanks in advance.

Condition is very good for age and all drivers work perfectly. They will be packed professionally with heavy duty bubble.wrap and heavy duty cardboard. Postage is included in the price. 9. Fast, Cheap and Loud a three way for my spare room/workshop/bedroom. My newish project, almost two years in the doing of it. As I now only have one functioning hand this has taken twice as long as it should have. The workmanship is a bit cruddy, but these are only for me. They look a bit old fashioned with their wider than deep looks but this is for a reason. Originally they were going to be just for a fifteen inch co-ax my Tannoy HPD 385's. Then I had a change of heart and decided that the Tannoys should be saved for a more retro project. Next idea was 12" Eminence co-ax. They are still bolted to the original baffles. Then I had the urge for a three way using a Fane 12" as the bottom with B&C 6pev13 mids and Davis KV2 tweeters for an all cone setup. A beautiful, unusual and very musical tweeter and it goes loud, very loud. Check out the magnet size, this tweeter weighs more than my Scan woofers. In the end I had to pass on this setup as I need to reglue the surrounds on the Davis K2's This is the box I ended up with, set up for three way with a midrange chamber.
  10. Hey there thanks for any advise.... So ive just got a jvc kw-r920bt head unit, jvc 6"x9" 3 way rear speakers and factory 6 1/2" (im assuming 2 way) front speakers atm. So my question is, the head unit comes with a build in cross over that u can select 2 way or 3 way aswell as the other crossover settings, im not sure if i use 2 way or 3 way for the crossover type. If i use the 3 way type crossover....will that work to seprerate my rear speakers frequencies and if so what happens to the front 2 way speakers? Or do i use 2 way crossover type? Im kinda confused
